Zeteo first premiered this gripping 13-minute documentary from the award-winning filmmakers behind “The Great Hack” earlier this month. In case you missed it, we wanted to share this new film once more, as it’s only available for a limited time. “The Fake Mayor” follows an incident in the UK last year where fake audio of London Mayor Sadiq Khan began circulating online and then mobilized xenophobic and Islamophobic far-right groups in real life - during pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
So, what exactly happened in London? How good and convincing was the fake audio, that it led to real-life consequences? And how worried should the rest of us be about deepfakes? They can’t be that easy to make… right?
“The Fake Mayor”, with its visually captivating graphics and stark example of how easily disinformation and AI can be created to destabilize a population, is a must watch. Especially in the current climate.
The film had its world premiere here at Zeteo, as an exclusive, and it will only be available for subscribers until December 9th, so watch it while you can – and let us, and the filmmakers, know what you thought in the comments!
