I thought it was illegal to use a musician’s work without permission. We all know that Trump does not respect the law, but am I missing something here? Is he intentionally inviting a lawsuit? I was glad to see that a judge in the Southern District of Florida imposed a $1 million penalty on Trump for bringing “frivolous” lawsuits against Hillary Clinton, the DNC and James Comey. More courts need to start doing this to discourage Trump and his sycophants from weaponizing and corrupting the judicial system.
Unsure if it’s illegal to use or if the same copyright law applies to political use: for meetings and conventions, playing in a mall or other retail outlet, licensing must be paid. For meetings and events it’s for _hearting_ the music with separate fees for playing. ASCAP, BMI, CESAC are among the licensing organizations. Hopeful a copyright lawyer reads this and can inform. What’s ludicrous is that the WH does it intentionally to “out” entertainers they think disagree with their (MAGA) thinking or actions.
