incredible! had i not read it here i would have thought that the "Sharia-Free America Caucus" was something from Andy Borowitz column. why didn't any of these folks try to ban Christianity when Protestants and Catholics were blowing up women and children in Northern Ireland? how did we get so afraid and so full of hate? hate towards Islam, toward Judaism, toward women, gays, trans, large people, small people... we talk about American values and morals and principles. talk is cheap. a large portion of the US population is wholly ignorant of their own religions much less the teachings of others... i wish that a few people would spend a few minutes learning what the US, Great Britain, the USSR, and France did in the middle east especially after WWI. wish that people would learn how we supported and encouraged mass murder in Argentina, Chile, and other South American countries, and the long laundry list of horrific things the US government did, including supporting the genocide in Gaza and now what appears to be genocide in Iran... they also need to look at the writings of Thomas Jefferson and others about the freedom of religion and separation of church and state within the US... It truly is frightening when people can subscribe to so many fallacies without so much as any willingness to see another side or investigate an alternative.
