Sánchez is the only Western leader treating international law as binding rather than optional. “No to violations of international law. No to the illusion that we can solve the world’s problems with bombs” isn’t radical, it’s the minimum standard for democratic governance.
Spain kicked US aircraft out of Rota and Morón bases. Faced Trump’s trade embargo threats. Maintained position despite diplomatic isolation. That’s not virtue signaling, that’s operational refusal to enable war crimes.
The gradient I’ve been documenting—some people are people, some people are variables—works globally too. Spanish bases can’t be used to bomb Iranian schools. Other European leaders allow their bases, provide defensive cover, then claim they’re not participating.
Sánchez proves you can say no. The fact he’s alone proves how thoroughly authority has decayed everywhere else.
I really like him for saying No. He stands by himself at the present time, I hope only temporarily. I can’t see other European leaders joining him in a hurry, but change begins with one person and that’s Sánchez. I look forward to seeing others follow his lead because he’s absolutely correct - bombs will never be the answer to the world’s problems, they just breed more bombs. How successful, wealthy, peaceful and civilised we would be if we doubled down on diplomacy instead of doubling down on bombs.
I spent a month in Spain in November: the Spanish people are well informed about what it going on in Gaza. My theory is that Spanish media has been on top of the genocide from the very beginning. Even the smallest villages in Menorca had Palestinian flags flying everywhere. In Catalonia as well; I was even told in conservative Madrid, Palestinian flags are ubiquitous. The fact that ordinary Spaniards shut down the Vuelta in protest demonstrates how deep the "enlightenment" goes.
I’m very pleased to learn all of that @Karen. I think Spanish people understand fascism very well, and reject it wholesale. I have musician friends in the Basque country; I love their attitude to life, their inspiring creativity. Just thinking about Spain makes me want to revisit the country asap!
Looking for a place to emmigrate to? Think about Spain. Politics and a focus of concern for people, Spain has been an adopted home for many who cannot tolerate USA run wars and puppet governments on other continents. Spain has a long history of Muslim influence and generational ties to Central and South America. USA citizens and residents from many other nations make the country great, if the nation is Spain.
The current prime minister, Rob Jetten, then not yet in that capacity, walked De Rode Lijn, the Red Line, in Amsterdam. Front row and chanting along with every anti-genocide yell, stating the Dutch government should BDS Israel.
Now as premier he doesn't even recognize the state of Palestine. All cry and no wool.
Spain should challenge US imperial power in the central and south America. they should openly challenge Cuban blockade, and should help global south. they can not only benefit from this challenge but also make a lot more friends compare to the expansionist camp.
Cheeto's alter ego Pete Hegseth says it all "We tough and strong hombres so don't mess with us" This is what Americans get for electing a malignant narcissist sociopathic bully who cultivated this strongman hypermasculine image
All bullies are weak minds projecting physical strength Netanyahu couldn't persuade other US presidents to go in with him on his favorite theocratic military target but Cheeto he could manipulate And like all theocratic military expeditions that litter world history this will end like all the rest Lives lost for nothing, change in leadership not achieved, and global economic upheaval for nothing
America by the end of this ridiculous "excursion" will be bankrupt and on the verge of economic collapse, Netanyahu's theocratic state will be given a lesson in religious wars with his own state severely damaged All for nothing

Long live Spain.
🫶🫵 SPAIN
Spain is an enlightened country with an enlightened leader. Long live Spain and all of it’s people.

The response of most European "leaders" to the genocide in Gaza has been absolutely disgusting! What is happening to the Western world??
He has had Courage while most have zero! Likely if more were/are like him there would be no Iran Wars (2) in 9 months - potentially leading to WWIII.
Thank you Ms. Bhutto!
Long Live Sanchez
The only Enlightened European
Sanchez is a rarity - a western leader who leads and governs with morality & humanity. Our world desperately needs more leaders like him!
I wish the US was like Spain! They have a true leader!
In a world full of complicit shills, we need more Sanchez's.
....it's because all the Western countries are under the firm control of the Zionist Jews who bribe a d bkamsil their PMs and politicians.

Fascinating. One of my brothers stayed in Spain when Franco was alive, early 70's. Then he lived there 5 years, before coming back 5 years ago.

Spain’s recent stance against the war on Iran is proving to be a Harbinger.

Finally a leader with an actual spine that's not afraid of Israel or USA.
