I'm really sorry I will not be taking up the opportunity to see two of my favourite people in person. I am a Zeteo subscriber and although Arwa will not remember, I had a brief exchange of emails with her when she was still relatively new at the Guardian, encouraging her never ever to be hesitant to shout out proudly of her Palestinian heritage.
However, I refuse to contribute a penny of my hard earned money to the Guardian. I have yet to forgive them for their appallingly vicious coverage of Jeremy Corbyn and his leadership of a party that for once gave us some real hope. I cancelled my subscription in 2020 with an eight page letter to Kath Viner telling her why a Guardian reader of forty plus years was abandoning them. One fact alone - that the ultra Zionist Jonathan Friedland still writes for the paper would be enough for me to withhold any support for them - monetary or otherwise.
Their dismissal of Steve Bell, probably the best cartoonist of our times was the end of it for me. I read them but I actually wrote to them saying I would never give them a penny again. Like you after over 40 years. Just going on their site, of course, enables the popups and embedded ads that part of mostly fund them.

In total agreement with you about Steve Bell. How I miss him! Even before they fired him they more than once censored his work - this one being one of the worst examples https://www.newarab.com/news/guardian-censors-cartoon-memorialising-slain-palestine-medic
The Guardian's Zionist roots are deep going right back to the founding editor CP Scott.
Oh to be in England
Will be at Union Hall in London for this event Mehdi. Bringing husband and daughter, she lives nearby. So looking forward to being there.
