I saw a recent clip of Harris addressing her audience at a book tour in the city where I live. The theater was jam-packed with her supporters. There were some protesters inside who, in response to Harris’ comments about her legacy, stood up and shouted, “your legacy is genocide.” She shouted back in her signature condescending tone that she was not the president and suggested that the protesters should direct their criticisms to Trump. What she was really saying was what she said in a mocking tone to pro-Palestinian protesters during the campaign: if you don’t like my position on Israel, go ahead and “vote for Trump.”In other words, you got what you asked for. The protesters were roughly escorted out to the wild cheers of her supporters, who stood up en masse to unleash what can only be described as hatred toward the protesters. It reminded me of what someone I met who had participated in the protests in DC when Netanyahu addressed Congress told me: that they were confronted by Harris supporters who taunted and threw things at them. This is, in the words of journalist Jeremy Scahill, “the MAGA blue cult,” the vote blue no matter who crowd, even if it means voting for genocide. I’ve met these people and they scare and disgust me. They’re willing to sacrifice a whole people to preserve their comfortable way of life. It wouldn’t occur to them to work for candidates who oppose genocide — it’s just not important to them. I hope that Harris’ book sales tank, but don’t underestimate the amorality of a large part of the U.S. public. Harris, the perpetual sorority girl. May she take her millions and disappear from public life.

Damn I enjoyed reading your comment Nancy

Super disturbing. That you leave opt to leave out the reasons WHY anyone would vote “blue no matter who…”. And voting for Kamala was not voting for genocide. Not only is that super slandering and false, but it dishonors all efforts made by Biden and crew to broker a bipartisan deal (which Netanyahu and Trump collabed to destroy, inTrump’s Mar a Lago home, when he was still running?!?) Also, it’s so freakin weird that you would put BLUE and MAGA in the same political title. You have completely misrepresented a HUUUGE chunk of America—the biggest chunk, actually—while, cruelly accusing them of supporting genocide. Pretty crappy, there, Ms Nancy. Do better.

I will own my vote to my grave. You sure won’t own the fact that your drivel, above, is horrendous, though…but just for shits an giggles, please remind me what my “other choices” were? And try to think through your answer before you type…we don’t have time for more bs—or to have to educate you further.

God I hope that’s sarcasm

I will never forgive Kamala for not having the courage to 1. Ditch Biden

2. Have a Palestinian speaker at the DNC

3. Not have any balls in this situation.

4. Not coming out of her defeat with a bang rather than silence.

And I worked very hard for her to win. She broke my heart.

apparently it was all about the 'payoff'...that $20 MILLION advance for this shitty 'book' that is better used as bathroom paper.

jenny b's avatar

And I will never forgive people acting/opining, as if she was the president and had any pull like that….

Yep, 107 days were in fact, probably about 45 days too many. Had the election happened before Kamala's consultants sidelined Tim Walz and told her to start campaigning with Mark Cuban and Liz Cheney, she might have actually won.

The Buttigieg thing is funny because there were any number of very valid reasons not to choose him for VP. First off he's not qualified, he's never served in the House or the Senate, never been a governor, and was a disaster of a small town mayor. Also Buttigieg is exactly the kind of fake, corrupt empty suit that Harris is. But none of those things bothered her at all, it was just that his sexuality could be a liability lol.

Regina Islas's avatar

Thank you for including this b/c it has certainly been forgotten: ..."a disaster of a small town mayor."

My biggest disappointment to date is the people that continue to support Harris and in turn, a genocide. AND, I am afraid for the U.S. because I cannot imagine such an individualistic society surviving. Do people not see the connections between the zionist project and the conditions in the U.S.?

Linda S.'s avatar

OK, so who do YOUsupport? Trump? Some lame ass third party candidate with zero chances of winning? I chose Harris because she WAS and still IS a better choice than trump! Now tell me with a straight face that trump has NOT supported the Netanyahu's genocide. Both Trump & Netanyahu are in the business of destroying Gaza for their own profit.

We exist in world where on a daily basis listening to the "news" is like wading in a sewer. Why on earth did Zeteo actually think adding to the sewer was a positive? What did the asinine comic provide that was of use to the party going forward? Nothing. The biggest mistake the Democratic Party made was allowing Biden to run in the first place! From a campaign perspective I get why Harris was tapped at the last minute and I honestly do not think any other viable candidate at the time would have done any better. The Dems were sunk from the .moment Biden announced.

Kelsie Bedard's avatar

Zeteo is not a part of the Democratic Party, they're not responsible for providing anything the party can use going forward. That said, if anyone in or supporting the Dems can see this silly video and understand that they will need to avoid these pitfalls in the future if they want to gain any respect or votes that would be a plus

Linda S.'s avatar

Given that the Democratic Party is the only party supporting democracy, I'd expect Zeteo to be a positive force, not a negative. At the end of the day, all this focus on a $20M book deal is absolutely bullshit when every day trump is extorting companies and countries for at least that much or more, causing market fluctuations and cashing in and conducting business deals in the open for new golf courses. Lastly, ANYONE that was in the position of losing a major race would have written a damn book. There have been TEN books written by failed presidential candidates! https://www.theguardian.com/books/booksblog/2017/sep/14/what-happened-10-books-by-failed-presidential-candidates-hillary-clinton

Nasem Iqbal's avatar

With all the criticism charged at the Democratic Party, Mehdi consistently argued to vote for Kamala because trump is obviously worse. He took a lot of heat for that as well. So zeteo was in fact a positive force when it mattered. The election is done now. Criticisms are fair game. Also the least one could do for making 20 million dollars for losing is some mockery. Not sure why that hurts you so much. Also, it’s not like they’re spending all their time and effort on this. It’s a 3 minute video

Nasem Iqbal's avatar

Other reasons for her loss:

1. Refusal to change her stance on Israel

2. Mentioning that she would do nothing differently from the Biden administration

3. Let’s just say there’s a bunch of wildly popular opinions which the general population supports none of which she brought up. People need change. Mamdani won because he decided to campaign on like 3 or 4 of those points. Let’s say, higher taxes on ultra wealth. Supreme Court packing. Medicare for all. At the time of her campaign there was a huge inflation problem which she addressed with half assed measures. A lot of people are struggling. They’d fight for you for any tiny little crumbs they were given. She just promised them nothing would change like Hillary who said America is already great. Don’t blame biden’s candidacy alone for her failure. She is just as responsible. Sure trump sucks. But if making fun of Kamala feels slightly enjoyable, I’m taking it.

Edit: Biden had a great team managing the FTC. Kamala’s backers wanted to get rid of that and she wasn’t even willing to protect that. Where she was expected to be different from Biden, she was worse.

Linda S.'s avatar

I don't know why anyone would assume I am hurt by criticism of Harris, there are legit reasons to be critical. What I object to is the blatant double standards concerning a book deal as well as the post game quaterbacking of wouda/shoudas. There have been TEN books written by presidential election losers, yet she is criticized for earning a buck when others were not. As for the wouda/shoudas, I think they are a waste of energy & time given the unusual circumstances of that particular race. How anyone could think trump was a "better" option is simply mind boggling. I would have voted for ANY democracy supporting, non criminal on the ballot - yes, even Biden over the corrupt despot that is office now. Have a good day.

🤣🤣🤣 Well done.

She made many mistakes. But as someone who worked on the campaign prior to the transition (from Biden to Harris), I can tell you it was not easy. The racism I personally experienced from some of my own colleagues was the worst I'd encountered in any role throughout my entire career. And unfortunately, I wasn't the only one who had that experience. I wrote a short piece about this a while ago, and I'll continue to speak out about this. Until the DNC and the broader establishment are willing to confront their own internal racism and biases, they'll continue to deteriorate.

Trying to picture what our country would be like if she were the president is a fantasy bridge too far. We'd be in deep sh*t of an entirely other style but sh*t all the same. We really do deserve better than the Uniparty.

Linda S.'s avatar

If Harris had won, there would no doubt be shit, but we would NOT be in the middle of an authoritarian overthrow! There would be competent, qualified people in the Cabinet, our personal data would not be sitting on Palantir servers being weaponized against us and there sure as hell would not be an out-of-control, lawless masked police force terrorizing our cities. The economy would not be in free fall, there would not be tariff wars creating inflation and the job numbers woukd be up. There would not be a major brain drain of our best scientists, researchers and professors to foreign countries. There woukd not be major measles outbreaks in at least three states with children dying. Lastly, US allies would still have our back. .So go fuck yourself!

Dawna Stromsoe's avatar

Linda, I’m with you. Harris wasn’t perfect but no comparison to the shit show we’re living in now. Our democracy would still be intact. All the post-election critics & non-voters can go fuck themselves.

Adam Risch's avatar

I see you're still coping and seething and failing to see the direct connection between narcissistic careerist ghouls like Harris and the success of Trump. We have Trump (again) precisely because Harris had no moral compass or courage, precisely because she would rather lose and frame her political cowardice as loyalty in a book for $20M than stand up against a genocide and tell Joe Biden and her billionaire donors and their consultants to piss off. But hey, what are hundreds of thousands of dead Palestinians to you (or her), right? How about you take your Harris pom-poms and go fuck off yourself Linda.

Linda S.'s avatar

First, I take trump's & Musk's words at face value when they say they rigged the election. Do the research, it's there. Second, in terms of support, trump's rallys were empty, they had no where near the support as in his first or even second runs for office while Harris' rallys were packed. Lastly, if narcisstic careerist ghouls and moral bankruptcy were top of mind issues for voters then trump would have lost. Period. Trump is without question, the most immoral, amoral and corrupt person to ever hold ANY elected office in this country. The man has NO redeeming qualities and even he recognizes that he ain't getting into the pearly gates of heaven.

Adam Risch's avatar

Yes, Trump bad, Musk bad, we all know that lol. But if we're going to find a path forward that doesn't involve more and more fascism, the Democratic party needs to reconcile with its own role in enabling it, and they need to do it now. Claiming the election was "rigged" is not reconciling with Democratic party failures, that's burying your head in the sand and living in a fantasy world because you refuse to accept the very obvious and glaring flaws of your own candidate.

Linda S.'s avatar

As a former Republican and 20-year unaffiliated voter, I find it interesting that your focus is always Democratic Party failures and not the Republican Party's out right corruption. trump's 2024 election 1.5% win was far from a landslide. If you read any of the current research you'd know that the odds of trump flipping the swing states 88 blue counties red by just enough to not trigger a recount is incredibly suspicious, so much that hand recounts have been and are being done. The patterns all indicate abnomalies never before seen. So yes, while the Dems need to get their act together if we want the country to remain a democratic republic, we cannot ignore and dismiss the outright corruption being perpetrated the Republican party. GOP efforts such as mid-decade election map redistricting and blatantly ignoring court rulings must stop.

Adam Risch's avatar

The video which you are commenting on is about Kamala Harris and her book, it's not about Donald Trump. So yes, in this thread I'm focused on Kamala Harris and Democratic party failures lol.

Obviously Republicans have been gerrymandering House districts, obviously they've been attacking voting rights, obviously they've been rigging the courts, this is not news to myself or likely to anyone reading this. They've been doing that stuff for literally decades. You only think it's news because you're a dumb brainwashed centrist lol.

Kamala Harris lost to Donald Trump because of her own cowardice and corruption, period, end of story. If you want to have any chance at undoing Republican efforts to destroy what's left of our democracy, you and many others need to face up to that fact.

Time To Organize Against Cheeto and His Nazi Allies

The upcoming Oct 18 No Kings protest is a rallying point around which we can consolidate our voices in dissent of what Cheeto and his Nazi party are trying to do to our government

But as important is to develop a long term strategy for our movement As Marc Elias writes in Democracy Docket(https://bit.ly/4n0Qj1J) there needs to be a long range plan that requires organizing around a set of strategies that ensure the takedown of this radical right wing fascist movement that we have come to know as MAGA which by the way has been in the works for at least 2 decades This is not just about 2026 but there and beyond 2028, 2030, 2032 Apathy doesn’t win

As Elias points out we need to organize for the long term around the protection of voting rights, supporting each other with conviction and energy, and being proactive not reactive So much of what is termed journalism is merely a reporting of what has happened in the day While that’s valuable we need to go on the offensive with a plan to attack MAGA Sadly the DNC is woefully behind the power curve and it’s up to all of us to show up WE the People show up and lead the way but that’s how it should always be

Kamala was simply not empowered or motivated enough to bring any change in the status quo and people saw through her pretentiousness. She has lost her bid for presidency forever.
