In other words, Muslims have the principles that are often missing with others.

Women were given Right to Vote over 1400 years by Islam. Whereas in the West this right was given with lots of struggles by the women it only happend few decades ago.

Islam promotes democracy. However people get confused as we have dictatorship virtually in every Muslim land, because the despot rulers in all of the Arab regimes were imposed by the Western colonials as they do not want democracy to grow in the Islamic lands, as they know that if the Muslims free themselves from their Western imposed despot rulers, the democracy will flourish and with it the end of colonial rule in the Islamic world.

Seems true to me here. Especially with podcasters.

Interesting survey results between the 2 countries Across the board a minority of Americans seem to have lost their moral compass

WE The People Win At SCOTUS: Small Businesses Stand Up To Cheeto

Cheeto responded to the SCOTUS decision that threw out his tariff policy “I can do anything I want”

SCOTUS initially didn’t at first take the case that Chicago businessman Woldenberg brought against Cheeto and hoped that the issue would be dead But when the case by Woldenberg (joined by a NY winegrower Schwartz and 12 states) was presented to IEEPA even the full court ruled in favor of the plaintiff So the stage was set that SCOTUS was forced to hear the case after it was presented to them in April 2025 The stall technique worked with the immunity issue in 2024 but eventually the case and oral arguments had to be heard And SCOTUS had to Constitutionally validate that their favored Unitary Executive/dictator ie Cheeto doesn’t have the right to impose tariffs which are taxes on the American people Only Congress can tax the American people

So the Constitution has restrained this fascist dictator and WE the People have had a victory against the Nazi Republican regime with Cheeto at the helm declaring that power is his and he can do whatever he damn well pleases Notice it wasn’t corporate America who took on Cheeto

WE the People are winning and WE owe Woldenberg a tremendous debt of gratitude Just think One man changed a terrible government policy Become a political activist Join Indivisible and encourage your friends family neighbors It's up to WE the People to determine what country we want to live in Do WE want a moral, just, legally bound, lawful government?

I am very glad this has come out although I am afraid it probably won't change the opinions of the majority of those, who want to believe the islamophobic tropes spewed out by rabble rousers. When people's opinions are not based on facts, explaining the facts to them will not change their opinions.

I come from a huge Muslim family and guess what they all believe in democracy and none of them are terrorist🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

How could it when many of those who are Islamophobic think 1/6 was a fine tourist visit; that 2020 was stolen; and the rest of the regime’s racism, hate, words? People can learn if we help.

Because of alternative facts, laugh out loud

Thank you for this exhaustive study of US and UK Muslims. I am a lifelong Liberal Democrat and daughter of Irish immigrants. We believe the same!! We want free speech ,equality, and inclusivity for all.

It’s most likely not going to be received well but one really has to question as to why it is that half of those polled would ‘prefer’ Islamic law. Assimilation and adapting to the laws of the host country would go a long way toward acceptance.

When Muslims hear the words “Islamic Law” they typically think of more fairly distributing wealth, providing a strong social safety net, ensuring the highest degree of education for the populace as possible, and ending wars of aggression.

When westerners hear “Islamic Law” they typically think of hijabs and beheadings, neither of which is actually central to Islamic Law.

This is where the discrepancy emerges. “Islamic Law” is generally more concerned with building a fair society based on consensus. Also, there is no universal iteration of Islamic Law. There are many legal schools that further divide by culture and creed.

As for “Sharia Law”, the term is nonsensical. Sharia translates best to path and incorporates Law, philosophy, history, consensus of the community, and more. “Sharia Law” as typically imagined by non Muslims is a straw man term used to demonize us.

You are right and like in the case with Orthodox Jews those rites and customs in Islam should be respected. I (hopefully wrongly) jumped to the conclusion that they were referring to Sharia Law.

Joan Eisenstodt's avatar

Is it possible that the question was asked in a way that didn’t go deeply enough? In the strict Orthodox Jewish communities in the US, different laws for divorce and other aspects of life are “preferred” or accepted because it’s known. I’m not speaking from experience, only reading.

Interesting article! I suppose those most impacted by inequality can often become the strongest defenders of democratic ideals. Thank you!

Strongly defend the separation of church (all religions) and state.
