2 people get shot, and the gov't deploys hundreds of troops and starts a hate campaign against Afghans. So many kids die every year as a result of school shootings, and nothing happens. Tells you what their priorities are

Stop the unfounded name blame. We were part of a sizeable group that sponsored a large family of Afghanis who were forced to flee Afghanistan or be massacred by the Taliban. They are well on there way to integrating into Canadian society & will bring a richness to it! The vast majority of such refugees enhance Canada & their children will be the country’s future! As for racist MAGA types & Delusional Donnie - grifter par excellence- you will be the ultimate losers

Trump illegally, needlessly deployed the National Guard to DC putting them in harms way as part of his authoritarian power grab.

The National Guard blood is on his hands.

Yep. He also set it up that way. He wanted someone to say "I've had it!" so he can now make the call to rid his land of anybody he deems as not "real" Americans. Never forget that he's ALWAYS been a racist piece of shit.

As a candidate he started his campaign with racism immediately after descending that fateful elevator. He won that election based on White Nationalism.

Of course he did! He KNEW that America was white nationalist territory. No doubt about it. Now of course they are arguing that they are not. The proof is there to see. They can try to unseen it but it's undeniable.

This is exhausting, who commits the majority of mass shootings in the States? But, they will never ever call out the white guys.

VEE LAVALLEE's avatar

Yikes! You will be arrested for sedition! Or something Sarah! White guys may commit 90% of crimes including murder but those stats don't actually mean anything. Even before trumps regime they did nothing about the fact that too many people own at least one weapon of destruction. I doubt I'll live long enough to see that fact questioned. NO, it'll always be "guns don't kill people, people do" yeah, the logic escapes me too. I live in the UK, we, the general public are not allowed to own a gun. Yes criminal gangs do I'm positive of that. But using them because they are pissed off at what their adversary says is still a bar too high to jump unless desperation sets in. In the US they live in "desperate" times 24/7! Why? Because they live in fear 24/7. Why? Because their neighbour that has a beef with them because of 'whatever' may shoot them over it. So ask yourself do they feel "safer" because they own a gun?

They are doing what they have been doing all along: opportunistically inciting anger towards an entire group of people (or nationality/ethnicity) based on the actions of a single troubled individual.

At this stage, we all become conspiracy theorists…another distraction and fake alarm to increase the police state-state of siege! Whatever happened to the Charlie Kirk investigation or whatever happened to his body or funeral?; or the guy who supposedly shot the Israeli couple at the Jewish museum in DC; or the Trump assassination attempt. All a set up!!! Hoax! Release the Epstein files

The man puts himself and possibly his family in harms way to help us in the war against the Taliban. Trump "negotiates" a peace with these same Taliban in Doha in 2020. We depart Afghanistan in accordance with the terms of Trump's agreement in 2021 only months later than agreed to as it was a difficult withdrawal to begin with. Now that same president Trump is about to deport his fellow fighters and their families back to Afghanistan and an almost certain death. Can you say betrayal? How would you react?

Turns out he was highly vetted, 3 times, and granted asylum under Trump in April 2025. But either way, one man’s actions does, should not define a whole group of people. The press conference today was lies fueled by bigotry to promote fear.

This is sickeningly disgusting! And I can see Stephen Miller's hand in it and hear his rabid, racist, xenophobic, conspiracy theoretic, rage-filled, vituperous screaming rants performed anywhere he can find an audience of one or more and if not that, probably in the mirror. You can be sure that he has already agged on our dear president to even higher planes of malignant narcissism and lower planes of moral and physical corruption. I wouldn't be surprised if they've even discussed the idea that it might be a good time to try the Muslim ban again.

Further, this terrible act of potentially lethal violence perpetrated upon these two fine young National Guardsmen has been much anticipated by Trump and his minions and a long time coming so whatever concern he may or may not have for these two wounded Guardsmen, it pales in comparison with the massive degree of ebullient excitement he is almost certainly feeling. His whole purpose in ordering the National Guard, ICE and CBP in large numbers into these cities where they were not needed and unwanted was to enrage and stimulate to action and reaction the populace. And his motives in doing so are, and remain, power and personal political gain.

He will demand the greatest show trial for the individual(s) eventually indicted for the crime and he will order Patel and his FBI, Bondi and her DOJ and any other entity he can think of to put on the most obvious "dog and pony show" of noisily scurrying around and making of monumental statements of great discoveries of evil almost certainly derived from Biden and the Democrats which will amount to much ado about nothing. But the real bottom line is this: whoever pulled the trigger that fired the rounds into these young National Guardsmen, it was President Donald J. Trump who aimed the weapon.

So you worked for the CIA in Afghanistan and then find out that:

In July, the Trump administration withdrew humanitarian protections for Afghans who had resettled in the United States, citing Afghanistan’s “improved security situation, and its stabilizing economy.”

--From NYT updates.

Is it a surprise that one of the beneficiaries of the resettlement with an allegedly delicate psyche knows there's a good chance he's going to be deported to the tender mercies of the Taliban and decides to put on a random act of resistance?

While I sympathize with the motive, this was murder of potentially innocent persons, not random, but product of a destroyed human being.

The shooter got destroyed by his experience in Afghanistan, as well as the prospect of getting shipped back there, and in turn destroyed others. It could have just as easily been some random DC residents. It would have been maybe more of a statement if he aimed at a senator - both parties were complicit in the Afghan mess, but the NG was a more visible target. Recall, he was irrational.

The problem - here in America - is NOT Afghans, Arabs, Jews, People of Color, Africans, Asians, Muslims, etc. The problem is the trump administration as a whole. Each & every one of them are criminals, low-lifes, reptiles, racists & Islamophobes. If we packed them all up & shipped them to a desert island, America might be a better place to live. I would rather live with 10,000 immigrants than ONE trumper!

This entire situation - all of it - is the fault of trump and his cadre of vicious bigoted thugs. They deployed a bunch of kids to patrol a city that didn't need patrolling. They kept them there indefinitely. They started targeting Afghans (and various other less-than-white people) long before this shooting was conceived of.

It was only a matter of time before a Guardsmen would be attacked. That it was an Afghan that was the attacker just emphasizes how much damage this pack of jackals has done.

Fascism is imperialism turned inward.

Cheeto And the Nazi Economic Game: Screw Everybody Except The Wealthy

It has been clear since the 1980’s and Reagan that the main economic policy was to hand their wealthy donor class tax breaks and make the rest of the electorate pay for it It’s the story of the privileged class, superior genetics(RFK Jr and his eugenics crap), and “we deserve to rule” kind of policy that led eventually to the political strategy of “trickle down economics(TDE)” Give the wealthy a bunch of money out of the pockets of the middle class and then that money will be distributed to the inferior human beings “below them” The Republican gambit has always been “we’re better than everyone else” so join us….we’ll elevate your game

A couple of studies have now shown that TDE doesn’t work and that the wealthy just become wealthier with an ever increasing wealth gap as a result and as a result everybody else gets poorer It’s now clear that that Cheeto and the Nazis are living Greed/Power Corrupts, and Absolute Greed/Power Corrupts Absolutely

Yes, there is societal unrest has underpinnings in the economic inequality that is being foisted on the American people by the current Nazi regime in the guise of inflation WE the People have had enough and it’s French Revolution 2.0(21st century style) and the way to screw the wealthy is to tax them and level the playing field(in the 1950’s the effective tax rate for top 1% was 42 to 45% and now 26 to 28%!!!)
