I'm not sure why my disappointment in Mehdi's inability to address the moral question of voting for a genocide enabler would lead you to suggest that I stop reading his work. I'm a subscriber to Zeteo and I think that, on the whole, Mehdi Hasan is a good person, producing good work, and sharing contributions from other good people producing good work. If I didn't respect him, I wouldn't be disappointed. I'll keep reading him, and I'll keep urging him to deal directly with the contradiction I think he's facing: opposing genocide and voting for a genocidal leader.
I truly believe that the bigger issue is to keep democracy alive. It will be impossible with an autocrat - essentially jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. We have been called a democracy for a long time and yet there was slavery and still racism. Native Americans have suffered and still do. As a biracial American I vote Democrat and it is the lesser of the two evils.
We already live in an autocracy: our country is governed by a relatively small group of very wealthy people, who, for the most part, assure their own comfort above all other things. We have NEVER been a democracy, notwithstanding all the people who like to call what have by that name. I think you are keeping alive the autocracy, not democracy, when you vote for Harris. You're keeping alive the system that was started as one that sustained slavery. You're keeping alive the system that, within its first 50 years of existence, did its utmost to nearly eliminate the Native Americans. You're keeping alive a system that makes most voters powerless...most people powerless. And you're supporting the lesser evil of two autocrats, both of whom are happy to enable the mass murder of tens/hundreds of thousands of people. You're supporting an autocrat who, if she follows her boss's lead, will continue to bring us to the brink of a world war, increasing the military budget and answering every foreign policy question with death and destruction, whether that be through outright killing or economic sanctions. You will never have democracy in America until we collectively say no to the lesser of two evil autocrats.
You can always stop reading his posts can't you? He probably already knows where you are coming from though.

I disagree.
