The title "This week in Democracy" is obsolete, quite a while already.

The Dark Hole Of Campaign Contributions

Campaign financing is tough work but I sense that donating has become a big black dark hole where $$$ go in without any assurances of what the candidate stands for This to me is the beginning of campaign finance reform that sadly cannot be legislated WE the People should demand more than a black hole

I have gradually grown concerned over the last election cycles about how candidates fund raise I contributed heavily in 2024 to DNC candidates and these comments are not made because I've given up or pissed off but that I am beginning to believe the way candidates address the public is old and stale Yes it's great to understand their background but my problem is that candidates never address what issues they really care about....not the generic good for the community, for family values, or for the good of the country and democracy, for education, for veteran benefits.....while these generic stances are laudable they do not say what the candidate is willing to die on the hill for

List of 15 campaign issues range from SCOTUS reform to return to gold standard to campaign finance reform to impeaching Cheeto

Lastly beware of ScamPAC’s or PAC’s that represent obfuscated interests eg AIPAC has several subPACs that don’t share that they are tied to AIPAC BTW AIPAC tracks(https://www.trackaipac.com/congress) incumbents with such comments as

We encourage this representative to continue improving their legislative record on Israel-Palestine issues.

This representative rejects AIPAC and champions a foreign policy based on human rights and international law.

That is to say to candidates, whether incumbent or not, play ball or we won’t fund you
