It appears we can now count Hakeem Jeffries as one of Trump’s “cronies.” At least they seem to be working toward many of the same goals. Recent reporting in both Sludge and Drop Site News reveals that a Jeffries connected “Super PAC” is funneling AIPAC money into the campaign of incumbent Democratic Representative Valerie Foushee (NC) against progressive primary challenger Nida Allam, who opposes support for Israel. The PAC is referred to as a “shadow PAC” because it hides its backers. Foushee apparently won her current seat with funding from AIPAC. As we know, AIPAC generally supports Republicans candidates but throws a lot of money into Democratic primaries.

I don’t see how the Democratic Party can survive in its current construction. The Jeffries and Rankins are not natural allies. Those who take money and directions from a right-wing foreign power and the voters who support them are not natural allies with those of us who don’t want our tax dollars going to rip children’s bodies apart and to intentionally starve people and drive them off their land. Trying to maintain this unnatural coalition is not working. (This is just one example of our differences). It results in a lot of lying. The story is not just about the divisions between Republicans and so-called Democrats. Those “Democrats” are more like Republicans and they take money from the same donors. (A billionaire supporter of Israel is channeling money into Jeffries’ PAC).

I have to say that I'm deeply disappointed in all of the Democrats who get money from AIPAC and proud of those who don't. Every one of them should disavow this PAC, at least and until, the Palestinian people have a country free of Israel or any other country, one they can govern independently, where they can live in peace and safety. I don't know how anyone can support Israel.

Unfortunately, this is not news (as in 'new'). How long will the Republicans put up with the tyrump ruining everything he touches, including their honor, reputations, and future? After all, this is their boy playing with fire. They could stop this simply by resigning their seats if they are too cowardly to take direct action.

Just wanted to add...this new format is way too brief, so much more went on this past week. We need the old format back, especially if we plan to share on social media. I hesitate on sharing these brief summaries, I'd have to add so much more in order to fill people in, but I'm only one person. Please reconsider using the old format again, it was so much more informative for people who aren't news junkies like me.

Apparently, more Americans left the country in 2025 than at any other time in history. If I weren't so old and poor, I'd go too. This is not America, at least not the America I grew up in. I feel for the young people, especially the children, who will grow up in a police state unless we can force the fascist bastard and his oligarchy out of power. I'm not giving up, not yet, but it's getting close.

Substack cut off my comment. The conclusion was that Jeffries is secretly funneling AIPAC money into the campaign of an incumbent rep who was elected with lots of AIPAC money and who is being challenged by a candidate (Allam) who opposes funding weapons for Israel. My second point is that the Israel supporters in the Democratic Party are not natural allies of those who oppose genocide and it makes for a very strange coalition that should probably split. To some extent, it already has.
