How much longer can these complicit US Politicians get away with just ignoring the murders and atrocities?

Expand full comment

They gave Israel permission to commit War Crimes against the US with impunity and without remorse when they refused to investigate the War Crimes committed during the attack on our ship—the USS Liberty. See https://bit.ly/3SIEhig

Given that, what do you think of the chances are for Americans killed during the current genocide receiving a legitimate investigation?

With the internet, with real people media, the chances are higher, while not high. Your story chokes tears from my heart. Thank you for listing it here and carrying it on. I have forwarded it.

What puzzles me is even with the internet, is those involved in the process of lending some truth to the one-sided propaganda the US has been subjected to since 1948 have totally ignored the USS Liberty.

With the USS Liberty you can move the Israel/Palestine issue 6,000 miles from Israel directly into the living rooms of America. 34 of those American living rooms had a family member killed on the USS Liberty with the tacit approval of the US government. 294 of those American families have a member who is a victim of War Crimes committed against the US with impunity and without remorse.

It is an issue even Mehdi Hassan has ignored.

We can understand why Congress ignores us even though we disagree with it. They put their fear of the reaction of AIPAC over the duty they owe to honor their oath of office and those who have served in the military.

Mehdi Hassan’s decision to ignore us is another question.

As long as people will give them a free pass. Do you really think one day they will wake up and say

'oh, this is too much. We need to care for all lives and not just the selected few'

To put it frank, this genocide is on us. The people that have stayed silent and did not demand in an earnest way to stop it.

Sadly, it is on us. The U S. ‘The most powerful nation in the world’ We got carried away with distractions and consumption and the government we have put in place does not reflect our once highest values… or at least what we told ourselves about ourselves.

When you look at our history, I don't know if we have had really a high value that was applied universally.

Al Jazeera English did a full report with co-workers of Ayşenur, including Israeli activist Jonathan Pollak, who were present at the time of her murder. I highly rcommend it.

The current US government is in lockstep with the Israelis and nothing is going to change that. If Trump gets elected, anything could happen as he works for the highest bidder. The democrats work for the donor class and the Israeli lobby. The United States is finished. The coat of many colors has been tossed away and the evil empire has been exposed. They don't even try to hide it anymore.

Democracy is just a word anymore. Liberal democracy doesn't exist. As one independent journalist said today, the United States is a full on oligarchy and they are done hiding it from the world.

For those of us living in any of these so called democracies, it's time to wake up and get ready for some tough, lean years ahead. The economies are failing faster now and the end is near. Once Europe implodes, the U.S. will fall with them as no one else will trade with them anymore out of fear of the dreaded sanctions punishments.

You better hope you live somewhere that you can grow your own food or you just might get a little hungry in a few years.

I'll call your outrage at no investigation after 7 days and raise you outrage at no investigation after 20,917 days.

That's how long my USS Liberty shipmates and I have been waiting for the US government to investigate the attack on our ship.

I know that to his last breath long after he retired, your skipper Cdr. (later Capt.) William McGonagle fought for his crew, despite attempts by LBJ and others to make everything secret. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for staying at his post on the bridge despite a serious wound that could have killed him.

However, because it didn’t look good for the Israelis, his medal was awarded in a closed ceremony in the basement of a government building. People don’t realize that the day of the attack the Israelis killed more people aboard the USS Liberty than on the USS Pueblo when the North Koreans captured it. Perhaps this is our reward for encouraging Israeli paranoia.

Joe Biden is a callous black hearted prick and a monster of depravity. He’s leaving office, he could make a gesture of goodwill to the family and reach out, but what’s he going to say to them? He’s responsible for this nightmare just as much as Netanyahu, Gallant and the rest of those Zionist death pigs.

As for Happy Happy Joy Joy lady, she’s too busy pretending everything’s coming up roses to go give a rats ass about some sad people who lost their daughter. She loves that AIPAC money

I can’t get myself to do it. I can’t vote for her. I know, if Trump wins, it will be bad for us, we will have our own Netanyahu. But at least we can suffer in solidarity.

There is time before voting for president to scare the dems into doing something. This race is so close, uncommitted electorals lead the way.

Will it work to raise up as DEMS or independents to make a No Vote movement?

No comment, No vote.

John, I share your concern and outrage. Pope Francis urged that we vote for the least evil of the two main presidential candidates; stressing we have a moral obligation to vote. (I’m paraphrasing.) Not voting is a vote for convicted felon Trump, a wannabe fascist dictator for life, who intends to shred our constitution. Under Harris, our conversation would likely remain legal. Under Trump, it would likely lead to prison and torture; and a speedy final resolution (a quick genocide,) death or mass incarceration and torture of Palestinians and their supporters. Unless you’re a troll, I hope you will take the logical and righteous action, vote Democratic and urge others to do the same. W/Harris as president, there is hope her policies will be more compassionate. Under Trump, he will likely demand that Israel “finish the job,” ASAP. If you’re merely a troll, encouraging people not to vote in order to help the fascist GOP, for the sake of full disclosure, I’m strongly in favor of banning you, and others of your ilk, from this sacred space—where disinformation should not be permitted—our goal is to educate and strengthen our fragile, imperfect democracy; not undermine it.

Unfortunately, it's Harris/Walz who want to end free speech and who have stated (incorrectly) that the 1st amendment does not protect all speech - including hate speech and so-called misinformation. This has become a democratic talking point. Very ironic since it is incorrect disinformation. Also both sides are allowing Israel to "finish the job." Harris has just lied that that is their intention, but it's obvious that "Greater Israel" is their goal. I disagree with that goal, however, I think going about it by dropping 2000 lb bombs on refugees in tents to make profits for the neocons who invest in arms and are now supporting Harris, is worse. In this sense Trump may be the ironic and scary lesser of evils. The democrats are promising us endless war and full censorship...plus a continued bad economy. In NY I am voting for Jill Stein. I would like to see the Green Party get 5% of the vote so they can get federal funding. The only states that really matter are the swing states. I hope voters there are not duped by personality and symbolism.

Have you heard any of the candidates say, "Palestine has a right to defend itself?"

Robert: Is that really the way you think? Anyone who disagrees with you is a troll who should be banned if you have your power? I live in California so I have the luxury of voting third party knowing Kamala will be the winner anyway.

Both candidates are beholden to special interests.

In the case of Trump, I think he is just oblivious to the rats riding in on his ship. They will placate and marginalize him. They are smarter than him. They are project 2025, as well as international oligarchs of the darkest kind.

But, don’t fool yourself, the powers that be behind the democrats are not going to stray from the script either. Look elsewhere for your values to be realized in law.

Onward.

Even though they continue supporting Israel, they are complete cowards for not recognizing the families of Americans killed and injured. It makes me sick. It tells me they know supporting Israel is wrong.

Aside from here and (to an extent with their own investigation the other day) the WaPo, the media have gone cold on this. The only thing that drives policy here seems to be media coverage - and so far, it’s gone from outrage, to accident to killing/accident, to.. where we are now. Nothing - and no evidence that an investigation is happening. NYT on Wednesday (the day they stopped covering her murder) even started to refer to Eygi as “Turkish-American” rather than a US Citizen. I guess in a way to minimize her murder.

Almost 60 years after US servicemembers were killed by Israeli forces, and our hypocrisy of a democracy still lies and obfuscates for thl nation of so called Israel. When America can't even care enough about the deaths of its most vaunted, I hold zero expectations that it will ever do right by any of its citizens. Even as this illegal settler colony instigates broader war that will lead to its inevitable annihilation, the US will hold the bag for the them, blowback be damned.
