Is it me or does Trump seem a little subdued after his experience at the rally when he had his ear nicked? I have had mosquito bites that were bigger! Still, that didn't take away from all the clowns at the convention, the clapping seals who hooted and shouted at every other word by whomever was speaking. What a despicable lot, and Trump was shot when he was saying how rotten immigrants were. It was a real hate fest. I can't wait to see what November brings - or maybe I can.

I don't know if you've ever seen the comic-book-based series, "Preacher," but there's a character named Herr Starr, who's a narcissist, a pervert, and a sociopathic authoritarian, whose profound evil — and plans for global domination — repeatedly inspire people to try to kill him.

All attempts to kill him fail, but several of the attempts leave him mutilated (Including having his right ear shot off).

When I think of Trump's injury, I keep picturing Herr Starr's attempt to recreate his right ear out of foreskin.

I hope life does not (continue to) imitate art. Not because I would have any objection to Trump making a literal dickhead of himself, but because in the end, even though Herr Starr doesn't succeed in his plan to destroy humanity, everything works out just fine for him... contentedly playing golf & murdering people with impunity.

I loved the Preacher comics. I had every one of them back when I collected DC Vertigo! 😄

I'd never heard of them until the series came out, but I was glued to the series.

I love it, no I never heard of that but how strange. Art imitating life or the other way around? Thanks Lisa.

Vicious cycle of imitation, I think?

You might be right, Michelle, but now that Biden is stepping down it may change things. Interesting days ahead!

It's depressing knowing that Trump is leading in most polls and swing states so close to the election. Trump and his supporters are leading this country off a cliff once again and this time they may succeed.

When Americans are scared to speak out what else do you expect? When both parties are in a competition to outdo the other in stupidity, corruption and allegiance to a foreign country right in front of all Americans and they are still worried about amazon prime and what Yezzi is currently doing. This place is doomed for us and the world.

I like Fivethirtyeight because they do a roundup of all the polls, in all of them "leading" means Trump is ahead 1-2 points, well within the margin of error. The only thing we can take away from that is that it's close, and either one could win it.

Either one does not matter we are still doomed.

Expand full comment

Why is it so important to you to believe that? And to try to convince others its true?

Sorry we are not doomed we have been doomed since the founding of America and we never learn.

Sorry, I'm a little confused. When you say "we" do you mean humanity generally, or the United States specifically?

If you mean the United States, can you name a country that's any better? They don't have racism in Europe? Canada and Mexico weren't founded on the genocide of indigenous people?

Trump wouldn't be the threat that he is, if it weren't for Biden:

• Appointing a confederate-sympathizer as AG.

[Garland was so hostile to any prosecution of Trump, that for YEARS people at the DOJ were afraid to utter Trump's name in Garland's presence.]

• Refusing to expand the Supreme Court.

[Despite being hijacked in plain view of the American people, despite being shamelessly corrupt, and despite its intention to harm American rights & freedoms, being clear from the very start.]

• Refusing to protect voting rights.

[Biden is so EXTREMELY racist, that he wouldn’t even protect the right to vote, despite the fact that the demographic, to whom he most owed his presidency, was under attack. Biden is a confederate, a defender of border-goons whipping black refugees, a defender of school-segregation, a SERIAL tormenter of black victims / defender of white victimizers, and a provider of EXTRA funding for racist-piggeries (to spit in the face of BLM). Biden is a confederate, and has ALWAYS governed as such. Currently, he does it from behind black token-appointees, whom he uses as human shields against criticism of his racist psychopathy.]

• Legitimizing Trump's racism.

[On top of the above, Biden prolonged, and ESCALATED, policies that we were ALL disgusted in Trump for.]

• Committing the one crime that is WORSE than any of Trump’s.

[Genocide is worse than any other crime there is. And Biden's refusal to listen to the will of the American people — who told him to STOP — makes it impossible to argue (in good faith) that he is a protector of America's democracy, let alone a protector of an international rules-based order. He is responsible for undermining the legitimacy of international law.]

• Refusing to step aside for the sake of the country.

[Biden's psychopathy — his insane sense of entitlement, his deranged self-indulgent narcissism, and his genuine disregard for the victims of the fascist confederate reich he is facilitating — is the problem. Trying to gaslight voters, one at a time, is NOT going to overcome that problem.]

.

Some better questions:

Why is it so important to you to prop up a D-brand narcissistic threat to the US, despite him being the surest path to empowering the R-brand narcissistic threat to the US?

&

Why would you allow Biden to facilitate another Trump presidency (whether or not you think he MEANS to)?

Expand full comment

Sorry, you lost me on the first sentence, "Trump wouldn't be the threat that he is if it weren't for Biden"

Why the need to minimize the threat that Trump poses, as if he couldn't be dangerous all by himself?

I get that you hate Biden (oh boy, do I get that you hate Biden) why are you taking on the job of minimizing the danger Trump presents? I notice you don't have a single word to say about Trump, what's the matter, couldn't think of anything?

Expand full comment

That's not what I said.

If you try the first sentence again — and then keep reading — you might notice that that's not what I said (or you might not), and you might notice that there's not only "a single word about Trump," but EVEN MORE than one.

But what am I doing answering your false accusation, when you fully ignored my legitimate questions, and wilfully misrepresented my assertions?

And in other news (looks like that's what Gaza has become at Zeteo, at least since the Michael Moore interview) a 24 year old Palestinian man with Down Syndrome was mauled to death by an Israeli 'combat' dog (see: https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/gaza-palestinian-down-syndrome-left-die-israeli-soldiers-after-combat-dog-attack). And Bezalel Smotrich has called once again for outright annexation of the West Bank, this time if the ICJ issues an advisory (non-binding) ruling in the coming days/weeks that the Israel's occupation is illegal (see: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/7/16/israel-minister-demands-west-bank-annexation-if-un-court-rules-against-it).

I support the mission of doing news differently which is why I subscribed to Zeteo. So stop acting like the rest of the ignorant, biased and frankly racist Western MSM - where the world now revolves around Trump and Biden and nothing else. And most importantly, don't take your eyes and ears away from Gaza, where the genocide continues unabated, because that's exactly what the Zionists want. They want other stories to take the forefront so they can double, triple, quadruple down on their depravity.

I just read that article from MEE about the dog attack on the Palestinian disabled lad. It was horrific. The Israelis soldiers (if you can call them that) are truly demonic. I pray they get their comeuppance one day. They are a disgusting group of men and women and they will suffer mental horrors for the rest of their lives when they come out of this drunken murderous spree they are on.

It's so widespread Rosalind. MEM has a whole webpage documenting the litany of horrors and abuses (see: https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/specials/israeli-misconduct/documentation.html). There's scores of foreigners joining the killing spree who are allowed back home without so much as having to answer a question upon landing, even when they citizens of countries signatory to the Rome Statute (remember, the ICJ has ruled that there is a plausible case of genocide, see: https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20240222-foreigners-fighting-for-israel-in-gaza-are-war-criminals-and-mercenaries-period/ and; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1kLUVK8NaU).

As to what whether they'll suffer mental horrors down the line, who knows (that they'll have to face any sort of legal ramifications is certainly highly unlikely). Many of the Irgun, the Haganah (militias who went on to become the IOF) are very proud of what they did in 1947-49 (Deir Yassin and the likes) and it seems that that tradition is very much alive and well.

I was aware of all that yo wrote Rahul, I guess these are people who just don't have empathy or a conscience. The whole thing is a horror show and what gets me is that nobody seems to be helping to put a stop to it in any meaningful way.

You might want to give this a read to get an idea of the psychology: https://open.substack.com/pub/avigail/p/spilling-the-dirty-laundry-on-israel?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=3hr5r5.

Israeli/Zionist impunity has reigned for almost a century now since the most powerful states have given them a free pass to do whatever they want without any consequences of reprisals. The ruling classes in the US, the UK, Europe have been effectively lobbied for so long by the Israel lobby, without any advocacy whatsoever for the other side, that only one narrative prevails. The result - history is whitewashed and reality gets distorted.

Just take this simple example - Gaza was described as a massive 'concentration camp' by Baruch Kimmerling and Giora Eiland as far back as the early 2000s. David Cameron described it as 'the world's largest open air prison' in 2010. Before Oct 7th, the population density was ~7,000 per square kilometre (it's far higher now with all the carnage that's ensued). One 2,000lb dumb bomb has a lethal fragmentation radius of 365 metres. Just do the maths - one strike could conservatively kill 2,000 people. Because it's a giant prison/concentration camp, there's nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. Yet our shameless, callous politicians insult our intelligence by repeating the oft used lie that civilians are killed because they're used as human shields.

If they can brazenly peddle such misinformation that defies basic logic......

Thanks, Rahul. I will check it out though have been following the antics of the Israelis and the settlers for the last 35 odd years. I can hardly bare to read or look at the pictures of the carnage they have wrought without getting either sick or very angry - or both!

Despite what we all know, Trump is a serial liar, the other existential question for the citizens of the U.S., what to do about it? When you have ordinary citizens turning Trump into a cult leader, running around the RNC with fake bandages on their right ears, what can we do about all of this mania? The democrats need to figure something out very quickly or the MAGA cult will take over the U.S. by default.

In Democracy leaders come from the same lot that there followers belong to. It doesn't say much about the People from whom these leaders come from.

Maybe it is our educational system in the Public Schools that needs to be fixed before we can actually do anything about the leadership. and of course it is a long-term project- not just project 2025- it shall be project 2040 if we start now.
