It is time for some of that "Good Trouble" John Lewis reminded us of before he passed. We should remember Congressman Lewis and all of those brave Civil Right Fighters by doing as they have done. It is time to " "Pray for the dead, and fight like hell for the living!" Mother Jones said that. She was from an earlier time in American history. Further back in our history we received assistance from France during our American Revolution. A French phrase we should all learn: coup d'é·tat.

I am not able to find an authoritative voice for this quote: "It is Time to Raise Some Hell!" It is time and we should. 😎

Trump’s tariffs are just another grift. They drive up prices for American consumers, making everything more expensive. Even if some manufacturing come backs to the U.S., in an era of AI and automation, how many jobs will actually be created?

The real beneficiaries won’t ever be American workers—it’ll be corporate leaders who keep production profits at home while still charging us more.

Same scam, different packaging.

The Liberal party in Canada will have a new leader on Sunday; replacing Trudeau. I wonder what Trump will have to say about she/he. I know he hates Freeland because she got the better of him when last they redid the NAFTA agreement. Either way, I doubt he will have any

positive criticism. I just love Paul Krugman BTW.

Great interview. Huge fan of Paul Krugman who not only knows what he is talking about re economics but is also very knowledgeable on lots of other things.

Would like to point out that it has been discussed that the Right has no paywall for the information/disinformation that they spread. So it is hard to get the message out to people who are used to television and then free news. That is not me, but just pointing out how the Left cannot compete with the right if they own most of the media platforms and disseminate what they are saying for free.

So 1920s excess & deregulation by US oligarchy led to the 1930' Great Depression. Are memories that short ! Rinse & repeat...resulted in big government & regulation to fix the mess.

That short? That was a hundred years ago! 😂

We repeat history that happened 5 or 10 years ago because people don’t learn from that either… the first thing Trump did in 2017 was f**k over farmers… what did I see on every farm in my area of blue blue blue NJ? “Farmers for Trump” signs. And what did he do as soon as he got into office this time? F**k over farmers.

People aren’t being taught how to think critically, it doesn’t teach the why’s of history in a way that’s relatable to current events. Social media and AI aren’t making this problem any better.

I can't help but watch these tariffs go up & down and basically KNOW that insiders from the administration are profiting on the moves. The White House has turned the markets into their personal casino and the House always wins.

I think there is a method here: it’s called create chaos and then sneak in what you really want to do. Wanting to sell government real estate when you’ve ordered back to the office people who have no place to work is designed for chaos, too but it has a more malevolent purpose. It’s a Putin move: sell for cheap the Government offices that we the people paid for to your wealthy cronies. This allows a few wealthy people to take over lots of real estate and is a power move. Educate yourself on how demagogues operate. Read Ben Ghiat’s Strongmen or Marcel Dirsus’ How Tyrants Fall

Paul Krugman gave me a formative education during the Great Recession. I had so much respect for him and his views, then the Bernie Sanders years came. I was incredibly disappointed in his undermining of that movement; what came off as pompousness, dismissal, he wasn’t alone… many of the people I relied on through the W and Obama years let us down at that moment. I’m still glad to watch this conversation, I still appreciate Krugman’s knowledge and opinion on the economy, I just take it with a large grain of salt now. (live and learn)

Mehdi, thank you for the informative interview with Paul Krugman. We need to hear more from non-MAGATs who live on Earth 1 like him. I particularly enjoyed his inadvertently truthful "Donald Musk" comment. Sometimes, there is truth in a gaffe. Drumpf has illegally empowered Muskrat to do his dirty work for him so he can have more time to golf although I know it is a grueling task having to sign all of those destructive and illegal executive orders with the Sharpie. When the entire house of cards that is America crashes, Drumpf will once again do what he always does: blame someone else for his failures which in this case will be Muskrat. It couldn't happen to a more deserving asshole
