Happy New Year, everyone!

I know this year has been marked by much grief, disillusionment, and even anxiety about what’s to come in 2025, but I do hope you all take the time to reflect on any small wins, blessings, or even heroes in your lives. That’s what keeps me going.

For me, it’s been a very difficult but also incredibly important year as a journalist, particularly when it comes to the genocide in Gaza and now, preparing for the return of a man to the White House who presents a very real and great danger to the U.S. and the world. But… this has also been the year of the launch of this movement we call Zeteo and I do want to take a moment to mark that.

Hundreds of thousands of you, from over 200 countries and territories, supported me and my team in this big effort to create a new media outlet that was fearless, honest, and critical when it comes to covering the biggest stories of our time. We were able to bring you conversations, debates, voices, even films and poetry that are not only exclusive to us but are too often absent in today’s media landscape. That is something we, at Zeteo, are celebrating and appreciating as we gear up for 2025, and I hope you are celebrating these achievements as well – because Zeteo is nothing without you. This is also your win.

We intend to continue our model of relying on paid subscribers, rather than corporate sponsors or ad revenue to sustain us. We want to stay independent and, from the messages so many of you have shared with us, I think you want that too.
