Brilliant as always Mr. Hassan. I’m so glad you didn’t offer the ‘when they go low, we go high’ advice. That’s a losing strategy. When I run for mayor you’re already hired to be my political strategist. 🙏🏾

Way more than 40,000 killed in Gaza. Probably close to 5 times that number.

Hah! the reason Medhi had to leave MSNBC was because the turd Israel sent to lie about Gaza was trying to claim that the pictures and videos of entire city blocks demolished and children being dug out of rubble was all Hamas' imagination. True death toll is way higher, of course!

Unlike most "unsolicited advice", these points were very useful, even obvious in their political sense. I would hope that Kamala's advisers are thinking the same way.

Jeffrey: Well said. I agree with Mehdi, VP Harris will be better than Biden. As a VP, she had to follow Biden’s policies.

Expand full comment

I admire and believe in your passion Mehdi and I don’t want to sound like a negative parasite, but the only thing going into Kamala Harris’s ears right now is the centipede that is AIPAC. She’s not changing from Biden’s policy. At least with Biden we had some truth from his forgetfulness.

I was planning to vote for Biden, now I'll be voting for Harris, but I think it's true that their policy of support for Israeli genocide won't be changing.

So many commenters here at Zeteo jumped on to the "Push Biden Out" bandwagon, without giving much thought to who his replacement would be. It was never gonna be Rashida Tlaib.

Expand full comment

SteveB: Biden had to be “pushed out.” In my book, he scored a failing grade in the first debate. He is a de facto war criminal, complicit in genocide/starvation of Palestinians by Apartheid Israel. Biden was and still is a proud Zionist with zero degree of empathy for the victims of said genocide. We did not expect Rashida to follow Joe but Joe had to drop out; unless one hoped an easy challenge for Trump—who fears Harris.

"Trump—who fears Harris"

I'll defer to your greater knowledge of the inner workings of the brain of Donald Trump.

I hope AIPAC makes a U-turn and go all-in with Trump, and run anti-Harris ads on the Palestine issue. At least that may disincentivize her to not become Israel's doormat

Shahin. LNU: Convicted felon Trump fears Harris and wants Biden as an opponent. I agree with Mehdi; Harris will be better than Trump in a debate and on policies. What makes you so sure she won’t be? Don’t use GOP’s talking points as evidence.

Expand full comment

Why do you say she would be better than Biden on Palestine? Any evidence of that, like an actual quote challenging the weapons shipments to Israel? What matters is if we keep sending the bombs, not whether some politician expresses "sympathy".

I agreed with every point Mehdi made, there’s a reason why I’m here, for Mehdi. However, as much I admire his work and take on many things, I also have every right to mention my feelings. Harris is just as dangerous as Trump. She is another puppet and we’ve seen her demonstrate this, remember her call to public for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, followed by a brief pause and then a change of the terms immediate ceasefire. That’s what Kamala is and always will be, one who gaslights. She’s the Queen of that term. She has no heart, much like GJoe and Trump.

Br.Shahin, ... and therefore, .. what? Enhance Dump's percentages by voting "3rd party? Or dumber yet, sitting out? Dont do either. Or, I say shame on your arrogance and obvious privilege.

No lame white guys. If Kamala wants to be POTUS I think she should go big and pick Whitmer and make an all female ticket. This is not the time to split the baby and appeal to the right with some pasty white guy no one even knows like Clinton did in 2016. That's a recipe for losing. She needs to show the American People a new vision, a new path forward, she needs to make a definitive statement. A Harris-Whitmer ticket would make that statement. If she goes feckless and meek like the Dems usually do, she will be just another wasted opportunity.

That said, unless I hear her say the words "cease fire," "Zionism bad," and "time to rethink our relationship with Israel," I will be voting for Jill Stein.

Expand full comment

It's so funny seeing people argue she MUST have a male VP, like we haven't had 220 years of all-male tickets. But TWO women? Oh, that's just ONE TOO MANY!

A vote for Jill Stein is a vote for Trump

Expand full comment

Mahjar: A Harris-Whitmer ticket has gravitas, but voting for Stein is a vote for convicted felon Trump, his fascist GOP and for a dictatorship to replace our imperfect democracy. Are you OK with that?

Expand full comment

A vote for Stein is a vote against the Duopoly and against genocide. It's a vote for People, Planet, and Peace. But, don't worry, I'm in northern CA. Harris will take CA if she's the candidate regardless of how I vote. If she wants my vote, it will take a 180 on Gaza.

Expand full comment

Mahjar: I think you joined the wrong platform. You’ll be happier voting for Trump, directly. Look up the photo of her dining w/ Putin and a U.S. military officer of high rank now a Trump ally. There’s nothing but disingenuousness in the so-called Green Party. Every time she campaigns her efforts helps the GOP. Nothing green in the GOP. So sad. So phony.

Expand full comment

That's just a lack of understanding of basic arithmetic, to say it's the same as a vote for Trump.

As far as the outcome is concerned, a vote for Stein is equivalent to not voting, Are you saying that every non-voter is also voting for Trump?

I can't see any sitting governor leaving their post to run for VP on the ticket. Perhaps if they're about to be termed out, but for most it is a demotion.

I'm sure Dumpy appreciates your enhancement, by definition!, of his electoral support. You will give, by that vote, the electoral benefit of 1/2 vote to Sh*tsizpants, literally. (used here per its actual, literal definition). Shame on you for hiding behind your apparent privilege.

Mehdi ! Don't get carried away. She doesn't need nor accept any advice from anyone. She is Biden's partner in the crime /genocide. Even if she gets elected, you will not going to see any substantial changes in current US foreign policy toward the Middle East or Palestinians. She is corrupted, disingenuous to the teeth.

Expand full comment

Those of us who care about Palestinians need to figure out a way to reinforce and promote that behavior within our politicians. Unfortunately we spend disproportionately more time condemning or attacking people who support Israel unconditionally. This is actually a good opportunity for a dialogue with a sitting Vice President to demonstrate that her proactive impact on foreign policy in coming months WILL impact voter turnout in her favor.

Expand full comment

Unfortunately we need to accept that no matter who gets elected they will support Israel because they are just an extension of America. The only ones that are going to stop Israel are the axis of resistance.

The Middle East has been an a problem no one has been able to solve. Hamas, Iran, Hezbollah, the Houtis, Syria, Russia, and the Israelis haven’t made it easy to deal with. Is it reasonable to make this one of the issues Harris needs to address in order to defeat a very dangerous opponent who is obviously the enemy.

Let’s focus on beating the bad guy and not muddy the waters.

Expand full comment

That's the kind of thinking that got the White House supporting a genocide that caused it to lose the support of half its base. Harris must address Gaza as part of her campaign, and she should share a new vision of the Middle East (Iranian and Israeli "normalization" in the region) that gets her the support of the people she lost since October 7 and sets her apart from Trump and Biden.

Expand full comment

Do you want Trump? That is the choice. Trump or the Democratic candidate. First get someone you can talk to, then persuade them. Now there is only one thing to focus on. Please look forward and put your energy to get closer to the goal.

Expand full comment

It's crippling to a campaign when you have a major issue that millions of people care deeply about, and the advice from the candidate's handlers is "Just don't talk about it." I've seen many, many Democrats try to do that on many issues, and it NEVER goes well for them.

Harris can't be evasive about Israel/Palestine, that's not just the morally right advice, it's also the advice if you want to win.

Expand full comment

Come up with a way to defeat the Evil one before you give advice on an issue that the country is very divided on.

The Middle East is very complicated and not all Americans agree. There is one thing that needs to be done first and It is to keep the evil one out of power.

Work to solve the Middle East later.

Anything that muddies the water when the choice is so clear is working against our interests.

This is actually sound advice, particularly in making Abortion and reproductive rights central. MAGA is waging war on American women, red and blue, and that point must be hammered home. Attack Trump's age and clearly suspect mental faculties. Attack Vance for being a stooge of billionaire Peter Thiel. Rhetorically, Trump and MAGA are what the Pentagon calls a "target-rich environment." Hit their stupidity, cupidity, and cruelty, every day from now to November. Make the contrast.
