Am I safe to assume that all the gangs/rapists were men? My experience with S/A, rape, and other sexual violence involved men, and they were majority white. During my time in elementary and secondary schools, where some of this happened, I saw the white youth who were prone to inflict this kind of violence were generally ignored by staff because the white youth in question "came from good families." I can't help but believe these same dynamics were at play in the rape crises in Britain.
No, this genuinely did happen, and there was genuinely a failure to report it for fear is being perceived as racist. However, when eventually it was revealed Keir Starmer actually changed legal procedure to make a presumption of innocence and truth telling for children. It was not just a racist event. It was also, as Mehdi was trying to say because these girls were poor working class kids in care and nobody believe them or cared about them. I felt physically sick watching this interview not least because somehow other with the other two speakers we got to drift off topic and just generally have a go at Muslims..
As a survivor of child sexual abuse by a white man, I agree with Mehdi. This is a problem that is not rooted in ethnicity or religion. These perpetrators have a sickness & they are from all walks of life. Only focussing on the Brown people doing it is racist. By all means investigate it but investigate all grooming gangs whoever they are. Our children deserve to be protected ffs.
