This was fantastic! I love Nish, and if he comes anywhere near where I live on his US tour, I'll definitely be going.
I loved the Mash report, and was incredibly sad when it got cancelled. We need more shows like the Daily Show and Mash report, not less. The new Have I Got News For You (US) has been excellent so far and I highly recommend it for any that haven't seen it or heard about it yet.
Starmer's kicked out the most useful and leftist Labour members--Corbyn for one, and withdrawn the whip from a few other labour MPs recently. He booted out film maker Ken Loach who has had more to say about working class Brits since the Labour party in the 1940s when it brought in the NHS and the welfare state. Starmer's a closet conservative (not so closet). Not someone I could vote for there, if I still had a UK vote. A very mild reduction in arms shipments to Israel.
Here in the U.S. we have Cheneys Liz and Dick supporting Harris, which tells you they've recognized one of their own. For example, I see she's talking about housing, but doesn't mention renters. I'm a lifelong renter, so . . .
There are the hard right Bolsonaro, Urban, the German right, but we should also beward of those who speak out of both sides of their mouths like Harris, Starmer.
As a brown ex-Pat of England that lived through the NF's (National Front) era brought about by Enoch Powell and Co racist rhetoric, I see those cyclical events re-emerge yet again, but this spunk bubble of white colonial supremacists have far more reach now with the likes of media mogals providing platforms for these low-brow cowards.
I seriously love Nish Kumar. Really enjoyed this. Two incredibly bright, well informed men with robust social justice values and the courage to speak directly.
Fellow Brit expat here in the states. I feel I left at the wrong time at the end of 2003 - pre Nando’s (and even before Greggs became a nationwide thing, although they don’t offer anything halal (or healthy for that matter)). I can and do cook, but is buying my Indian food from Trader Joe’s a bad thing? ;) It’s actually quite good. I went to uni in Birmingham and lived in Aston and what you said about Leicester years ago was also my experience in 1994/96. Good times. Seeing from afar how some in the UK swung far right was/is depressing. Maybe I’m being optimistic, but I feel many didn’t realize they were lobsters in the proverbial boiling pot while thinking the likes of GB news was actual news. Even good, usually normal family members of mine. Resulting in Brexit and the “boats” nonsense. Not my siblings or parents thankfully. Great episode!
Kevin, did you mean Gregg's -the little grocery store that used to have a thistle as it's logo? If so, there used to be one right next door to me on Tower Bridge Road, LOL. Maybe not the same place, eh?
I’d imagine TN is avoiding some difficult questions. I know I’d like to hear his answers to them, even though as a white direct descendent of colonizers I’ve no right to ask them
Really appreciate hearing about what’s happening across the pond and the common enemy BIPOC have in the imperial powers that are UK and USA. Hopefully some day we can defy the divide and conquer strategy and instead unite to change the system and make it truly equitable and equal! Thanks Mehdi!✊🏼
Brown racists are the worst and so desperate to be liked by white racists that they are genuinely shocked when white racists tell them they hate them. Racism is pure evil and has no loyalty.
I love the 'We're Not Kidding' series. I would love it if the episodes were more frequent (please? 🙏)!

Wow, great episode! I think every person in the U.S. and UK needs to listen to this. I'm glad you're back from your break. We need more of this!

Loved this episode for so many reasons, thanks both x

Great session, I can related to everything being said as a Londoner growing in the 80s and 90s, everyone should listen to this
Excellent episode.
This was awesome. Love the segment but if you don't get Trevor Noah on this show, I am going to unsubscribe. Well, not really but you do need TN.

I had some of the best vindaloo in my life in a curry house in Leicester...
