I woke up with a horrible toothache that radiated through my head so bad that I could not even think straight. But i am in the comfort of my home with an icepack and able to make a dentist appointment. I imagine having this affliction in the cruel concentration camps of our contemporary US! This story, these women give me strength. They are the best of the best of us. They should not be incarcerated. They should not be treated like dogs. My US is no longer the land of the free. Thank you, Zeteo! These are the stories I want to see.

The sheer inhumanity of the agencies and facilities described is hard to comprehend. Thank you for bringing this story to light. How many more go unheard?

Leqaa, this is a very powerful piece. So good that you wrote it. I don't know you, but I am thinking of you hugely and sending you not just my love and thoughts and strength but the thoughts of many of us here in the UK. I have many friends who have experienced the inhumane system of detention centres here. You have many brothers and sisters putting their arms around you.

I wrote to my Congresswoman asking her to seek Leqaa’s release. She knew about Leqaa’s situation and said she was working on her case with other members. I was told that every request to Congress about Leqaa is counted. I hope we can all write to Congress on her behalf. She is from New Jersey. One of her Senators, Andy Kim, already knows about her situation. Her other Senator, Cory Booker, is still a die-hard Netanyahu supporter. I wish he would be primaried. Nonetheless, I think it’s still worth writing him about Leqaa. There is a place for emails to him on his Senate website.

Cory Booker gets a huge amount of money from AIPAC every year. This explains his support for Israel and Netanyahu. Booker needs to go. I hope someone will primary him!

Right. He talks like a Democrat in public and often votes with the Republicans in secret. For example, he was one of a minority of Democrats in the Senate to vote for the Republican-sponsored crypto bill, which would put us at risk of another financial meltdown. He also voted against the government’s negotiating drug prices in the past. Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner hosted a fundraiser for him at their Park Avenue apartment, and sometime after that, he was one of only a handful of Democrats who voted to confirm Jared’s father, Charles Kushner, as Ambassador to France, even though the senior Kushner had previously been pardoned by Trump for felony convictions.

I called Senator Andy Kim's office last week about Leqaa's unlawful detention. This week I am going to contact my CA Rep and Senators. If enough of us make "good trouble,"maybe this brave, eloquent young woman will be released. Cory Booker is useless, but I'm going to write to him anyway. Kudos to Zeteo to publish this.

Thank you, Karen. Something needs to be done about these detention camps too. I admire Leqaa for bringing the plight of these other women to our attention. Hard to believe this is happening on U.S. soil. I’ll also write to other members of Congress.

Thanks back to you, Nancy for bringing this to my attention last week...I really appreciated your call to action to get our Reps and Senators involved. It's just too easy to be overcome by despair and then hopelessness.

I wanted to share with you and other concerned posters, including Karen A, below, an update with some good news for a change. In sum, last week, NYC Mayor Mamdami asked Trump to drop the administration’s cases against Leqaa, Khalil, Mahdawi and Chung. Also last week, several senators led by Warren, Markey and Van Hollen, along with House member Pressley, “rebuked” Rubio for continuing to pursue student protesters for the exercise of speech. House member Tlaib visited Leqaa and documented and publicized conditions at the center, calling for an end to them. I am assuming they have been hearing from the public.

This is interesting news, indeed: thank you, Nancy, for sharing. I think we need to keep up the pressure via our Reps and Senators. I plan to keep bugging my Rep and Senators to remind them of this illegal detention. Mamdani seems to be the most vocal, and I'm heartened by his involvement....I've not heard back from Cory Booker's office about what he plans to do for one of his own constituents. I'll keep you posted and appreciate the update.

I am ashamed of my state, Texas, that has colluded and enabled Maga and these facist, undemocratic crimes! I am humbled by the strength that Leqaa is holding with her fellow detainees!

Hi, just wanted to call your attention to an update with good news on the subject. Please see my second and updated reply to the other Karen on this thread above.

Hi Nancy: just wanted to update you that I wrote to Rachel Maddow about Leqaa's detention given her chummy relationship to Cory Booker, I thought she should have him on to ask about what he is doing to free Leqaa from her unlawful detention. Or at least shine a spotlight on this horrendous miscarriage of justice. It's a long shot, but figured it was worth a try. Haven't yet heard from Booker's staffers about my email re: Leqaa's detention; no surprise there!

Thanks for keeping up the pressure, Karen. I emailed Booker about his unconditional support for Israel and asked him to vote for the then-pending bill to prohibit further funding of offensive weapons, but never heard back. I do think he’s keeping a lower profile in the subject now because he’s received a lot of flak for it. I used to watch Maddow, but stopped because during two years of a genocide, she did not utter the word Gaza once. It’s as if it did not exist for her. I researched the issue to make sure I hadn’t missed something and discovered that she had been criticized for her silence on the issue by others. I did recently see a 2016 documentary about U.S. news coverage regarding Gaza and there was a clip in it of Maddow criticizing Palestinians for firing rockets over the border after Israel had killed more than 1,000 Palestinian civilians. She of course said nothing about Israel’s role in precipitating the event. I didn’t know she is a friend of Booker’s. Not surprised. Not a fan.

This news does sound positive! I am grateful that these elected leaders are utilizing their authority and exercising their responsibility to ensure justice snd humane treatment of all detainees and holding accountable those responsible for these vile practices in our country! Thank you for your update, Lequaa, and I pray for your release and return to your family and school!

Thank you for writing this. Your strength and the solidarity you write about is precisely what needs to be celebrated today. And the system and ideology that keeps you locked up is what must be resisted and fought. Sending you strength and solidarity

With gratitude to Leqaa for sharing this. Reading this brought tears to my eyes and fury to my heart but most of all I felt awe for these women who are strong and resilient and supportive of one another.

The concept of hell is too tender a fate for the present regime and its flying monkeys.

Oh, and f**k ice, and f**k mainstream media who can report on the orange scourge's plans for a ballroom but ignore these atrocities.

This is sick, twisted and inhuman behavior.

How is this happening in the United States of America?

Fight, attend rallies, boycott.

We must demand a return to democracy.

Crying at the injustice and cruelty. Thank you for your words.

I cannot imagine having a period without supplies, shackled, cramps, and no help in transit or in a detention center. I cannot sleep because of the 188 children and 14 teachers who died after the US bombed a school. I cannot stop thinking about the Ukrainian children kidnaped by the Russians, or the Palestinian children dying in Gaza from bombs and starvation. What kind of a nation are we?

America is an uncivilised country and with this kind of barbarism is not unlike the Taliban. Shame on you America and those who do nothing to stop it.

Thank you, Ms Kordia, for sharing the details of what is happening to our beloved country at the hands of these animals who are not human. The Administration is a cesspool of wierdos from a failed society. I am at a loss for words to explain what happened to the America I loved. I wonder if we are totally taken over by the Israeli society and its tactics against Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.

Morning will come after every night; time doesn't stop it keeps moving ahead. These corrupt individuals will get their due soon.

What Have WE Become: Return To The Horror of Slavery

Last year’s documentary The Alabama Solution(https://bit.ly/3OYa8eP) displays the cruel, ugly, and brutal depravity of the ADOC(Alabama Dept of Corrections) microculture that honors and protects the vicious retribution by prison guards Through prisoner cellphone exposure of the system the DOJ has ineffectively tried to intervene, Alabama’s governor Kay Ivey has stonewalled any system reform Thousands of inmates die every year and system becomes chattel slavery all becoming of a deep South state The “privileged white plantation owners” showing no human decency of inmates ultimately describing the dark soul of the deep South

But this sounds eerily familiar to what Aldolf Eichmann/Miller and Cheeto have created with ICE bludgeoning minority groups who have no resources to defend themselves So the “privileged white Christian Nationalists” of the CNPP(Christian Nationalist Pedo Party) have created the same immoral and vicious system at the Federal level Different people same brutal result with innocent asylum seekers placed in inhuman concentration camps/prisons

So what have Southerners become to turn a blind eye to such animal behavior? And what have segments of American society become to not voice public outcry to inhuman behavior? Is this what WE the People have become as a nation? Such behavior needs to constantly be shown up to the face of gutless cowards who condone and seek pleasure in such atrocities to fellow human beings

Thank you for this poignant critical article. It is so important. It is IWD. We must empty our concentration camps now. I will share this widely.
