Maybe the US should STOP SENDING WEAPONS to Israel, & cut off the money! It's as simple as that!!

People keep focusing on Harris and her VP. If there is any hope for change in policy viza ve the Palestinians, Harris to make it clear that she will bring on a different team. It would be same old if she keeps Blinken, Sullivan and McGurk.

We have already seen just in the last couple of days that this is the same pig when it comes to the genocide of Palestinians, perhaps with a lipstick on it. She has indicated that the 'uncommitted voters' (i.e.me and my family) means little to her so I will show her next Nov that she means just as much to me as my issues means to her.

Jill Stein will remain my candidate of choice and if she is not on the ballet, then I will not legitimize this corrupt system with my vote.

I will vote for Dr Jill Stein. Those saying I will be helping Trump don’t realize that it is not my fault, it’s the system they keep supporting, the evil red and blue, that is the problem. They have so little faith in our communities. At the end of the day, Trump or Harris is the same for the great majority of the American people or the world. Then they complain about Chinas economic capabilities, well China is not all over the world waging proxy wars.

I'd like to think her bypassing the heavily promoted Shapiro as a running mate was a subtle signal to Netanyahu that it will not be business as usual in her administration. Time will tell.

Excellent video. We are on the edge of a precipice. The US has shown clearly that Israel controls the US Foreign policy when it comes to the Middle East. A sad state of affairs.

Excellent interview. Some of the most insightful and enlightening commentary I've seen. I'd like to say that I've seen anything here or elsewhere that has given me hope that the US will make a radical shift in its policy towards Israel, but of course I haven't. We are indeed on the edge of the abyss. Rula Jebreal's closing reminder of Trump's casual assertion that he would "obliterate" Iran, all of its 80 million citizens, and ultimately all human civilisation brings home a crude, extreme example of how detached from reality the US political class is. As Vali Nasr points out, Israel is so deeply and variously enmeshed in US foreign policy (and electoral politics) that it would be difficult for them to unwind those threads on short notice. This is apparent given how long they've allowed what obviously has been an ongoing genocide in Gaza.

It seems that these analysts are forgetting Iran is and will be back by Russia and China. I don’t think Lebanon will become another Gaza. I expect Tel Aviv will be but the axis of resistance won’t be bombing civilians as Israel is. It’s seems they believe there is still one power in this world. I believe sadly only a war will end Israel’s aggressions since they have no limits in their evil. They simply want expansion at all cost.

The US-Backed Israel is daring Iran and Hezbollah because they know the US will bail them out and fight for them. If they want war, perhaps Iran should give it to them else this cancer is just going to grow and grow till it has consumed the entire Middle East if not the world.

Harris is unlikely to publicly demonstrate any policy proposal different than Biden. She will do what she often does, serve a word salad empty of substance. It's not an situation for her to be in as even if she wanted to set a different policy (not convinced she does), this is nearly impossible given she is VP to Biden and he theoretically is driving.

Turkey's joining the ICC case against Israel is promising and clearly meant to send a signal but limited in impact given Netanyahu is hellbent on escalation and extension of destruction. The smart play for Iran would be to organize an assassination of a high level Israeli official as a reciprocal action. While organizing let Israel remain at high alert to cause economic impact and strike on their terms.

Obviously I personally want all violence to cease and peace the region...

So nice interview! That's the type of knowledge that other countrys must have. If they normalize this behavior, they normalize this against their own countrys!

Excellent piece Rula, lots of eye opening analysis by Dr. Vali Nasr. It would be eye opening to the masses if they pull their heads out of sand.

The observation of Genocide in Gaza has changed a lot of minds re Israel in the West. The young folks are totally against the illegal regime in Israel, it is becoming apparent that most Israelis and a lot of Jews in the West also support the current Israeli policies of making the gaze strip unlivable as they have voiced it.

Netanyahu may have bit more than he can chew. Iran and Hezbollah can just sit and wait and let the West and Israel stay on high alert.

US is on a war footing trying to defend the Jewish State for many years, currently it is at war with Iran, Hezbollah, and the Houthis trying to defend Israel. This is without any congressional approval. The US Congress would certainly vote for anything Israel wants as 98% of the US Congressmen and Senators are bought and paid for by the Israelis through AIPAC.

If and When Iran and Hezbollah retaliates to the illegal killings on their soil, the US and the Brits would most certainly be fighting on behalf of the Jewish State.

It is costing approximately 74.5 million dollars per ordinary day to the US Defense department to defend the illegal activities of Israel. I wonder how we can afford it?

If Biden is a patriot, he would do something about it now by freezing any arms shipment to Israel and save Harris from getting involved in this mess.

The first thing the US needs to do is stop the weapons. Right now. Bring the diplomats back to work on the complex issues in the region.

I’m sorry, I don’t think any of this is helpful. We’re boxing ourselves in a cage of helplessness. Everything that is being said here is known by everyone who is knowledgeable. What we need is some out of the box fresh thinking with courage. And sadly, all I’m seeing is a bunch of handwringing. It should be unacceptable to the American people to just succumb to this play that’s being scripted for us laying down. While I don’t claim to know the answer, I can tell what is not the answer and what we’re seeing is definitely not it.

Sadly, our politicians are not that much into thinking outside the box. In fact they're completely in the "Backing Israel no matter what" box

The Nazi war crime convicted NetanSHIThu was in the US congress last month giving a speech and receiving standing ovations and now people are shocked by the sale (it’s not even a sale. It’s a donation) of some 260 millions $ worth of weapons (peanuts) ? Are you kidding me ? Genocide Joe and genocide America would even give nuclear weapons to Israhell because Israhell is the USA and the USA is Israhell. It’ll be the same with the next US president and the next and the next and the next. It’s been like this since the artificial state of Israhell was created. You vote for these genocide presidents !!! So please stop playing shocked.

Currently, the superpower Middle East policy is driven by a renegade client state, Israel. The red lines of Biden are the green lines of Netanyahu. To have an American President taking back control of their foreign policy is like the phoenix rising from the ashes. Netanyahu is confident that a Trump or Kamala Presidency will not be able to contain him so long the American politicians are beholden to AIPAC and the zionists. Arab leaders should take note that the " a good Arab is a dead Arab" neighbour mantra does not bode well for them, and looking Eastward towards China and Russia is an existential necessity.

As one Muslim commentator stated , "The American people have been totally neutralized. " As long as we continue to think we are a democracy, there is no hope. The US is an empire albeit a very weak one now under Biden who is the #1 threat to our national security and Blinken is #2. We need to invoke the 25th amendment and remove him from office but that isn't going to happen

I find it is interesting that the interviewer used the word "terrorists" when talking about Iran when it is the US who was/is enabling Israel's terrorism.
