“Leftists” on Twitter/X? Really Mehdi? Where are your receipts e.g. name names? And Twitter clips that you pop up and remove so quickly one can’t read don’t count- otherwise this clip is typical MSM dribble to criticize the left that isn’t sold on AOC. You’re a duopolist Mehdi so I understand your loyalty to the corrupt Democrat party but the leftist circles I travel in don’t even mention this seemingly contrived rivalry between MTG loving leftists and AOC supporters. I personally consider MTG a Xian white nationalist nut job. Not a fan. However, I LOVE that she’s stirring trouble in her fascist party over Israel and Iran.

AOC lost me when she didn’t admit she made a mistake at the DNC with her BS speech. Why hasn’t she admitted she was wrong? And before this it was well known she was under that neoliberal fascist Pelosi’s thumb. And your claim that she didn’t support weapons to Israel is patently false! It’s ON RECORD that she voted for the “defensive” weapons. You’re twisting the truth Mehdi to support your argument. Frankly, I don’t trust ANY Democrat given that the DNC is as corrupt as the GOP - even progressives. They’re ALL compromised by the astronomically corrupt Congress.

Your segment on this so called hate for AOC and love for MTG comes across as typical MSM filler. I’d rather hear or see you interview Norman Finkelstein, Max Blumenthal, Katie Halper, Aaron Mate or any of the sources that Rachel Blevins interviews on the Iran conflict. Hell, the gutting of the VRA is more important than this BS AOC MTG story. Do better Mehdi.

Did you watch the video? There are screenshots. 🙄

RSV's avatar

I listened the first time. I watched after your post and now see the screenshots that come up and off so quickly one cannot read them. I updated my post to reflect this and still stand by my criticism.

Nasem Iqbal's avatar

Just pause the video and you’ll have ask the time to read

RSV's avatar

I paused the video and some of the screenshots are cut off and there is no context other than what Mehdi claims. Cenk Uygur and Peter Daou were the two tweets shown in full. I saw Max Blumenthal’s name but his tweet was completely cut off. I don’t know the other “lefties.” As far as Blumenthal goes I have a lot of faith in his assessments and knowledge on the topics of US politics, Israel, Palestine and Iran - Mehdi isn’t in his league and has never had him on his platform. Why is that? I stand by my criticisms.

I agree with you on AOC. Her speech at the 2024 Democratic Convention was very disappointing. That and her voting for Israel’s Iron Dome multiple times was a real turn off for me.

Sarah Olson's avatar

I agree, And I still take issue with her saying Kamala was working tirelessly on a Ceasefire which was a downright lie. Or when she toured with Bernie and Palestinian protesters were thrown out of their events and Palestinian flags taken down. ( this is on video, not made up)I’m Canadian, so maybe I shouldn’t speak, however what the US does greatly affects my country. I’ll admit AOC is probably the best bet for Dems right now, but what Americans need are more Mamdani’s. Politicians who loudly speak out about the need to tax billionaires, keep corporate money out of politics, and Stop supporting Israel! AOC needs to own up to her mistakes and start echoing the voices of the people. And I’m a supporter of Zeteo, so am a little offended at the lefties on twitter name calling, I’m not on Twitter, but who does he thinks supports Zeteo?

All I can say is “Mehdi, you are brilliant!!!!” Thank you!

Hell yeah! I bounced Peacock over Mehdi’s apparent demotion. Genocide fence-riding Chris Hayes lost, and it wasn’t even close. It would be the first in a long line of streaming services boycotts.

I find it amazing that we have such great people in the Democratic Party that are smart and eloquent and still smeared by their own party.

We will have a Republican Govenour here in California because the Democratic Party cannot get their shit together and everybody is more concerned about their own walled garden than the overall goal of standing up to Trump.

And I fear the same will happen in 2028.

kat amara - korba's avatar

Voting to continue to use tax payer money to arm Israel is a massive issue.

Karen's avatar

Andreas: my fear as well! Everybody here is just sitting on their ballots waiting for the latest polls to decide who to vote for hoping that we don't end up with a reboot of Ronald Reagan. There were 61 names on my ballot running for governor. And for people not paying attention, Swalwell's name was on the ballot which means he could siphon votes away from a Democrat who is actually in the race. What a mess.

Jeffrey S Medley's avatar

I can’t vote for any Democratic candidate that supports Israel. I would also have a problem voting for any Democratic candidate that does not support Medicare For All.

don't worry, I look at progressive media and basically no one is saying this. It is like a "false flag" article by Mehdi. You can ponder why would do this.

Thank you, Mehdi.

I'm sorry but #2 and #3 on that list of 2028 presidential candidates were Pete Buttigieg and Gavin Newsom?!? Are Democrats TRYING to lose in 2028? And theyre followed by Kamala Harris? Apparently the party hasn't learned shit!

It's a shame there isn't some kind of autopsy we could look at that might offer lessons. *whispers* I'm sorry, what? *whispers* They did it for free?!? *whispers* And the party WAS FINE WITH THAT?!?!?

Call it. Time of death, 2026. Subject died at 250 years old due to acute stupidity on both sides.

Jeffrey S Medley's avatar

The DNC did do an autopsy to figure out the reasons as to why Kamala Harris lost to Trump in 2024. So far the DNC has not released the autopsy, but the main reason for Kamala Harris’s loss was leaked to multiple news sources. The reason: Kamala Harris's refusal to break from the Biden administration's handling of the Israel-Hamas war was a "net negative"

I cannot, for the life of me, understand why anybody in their right mind would be comparing AOC, an intelligent, passionate, caring politician to a fascist, almost illiterate and frankly silly MTG. It is an extraordinary offence to AOC and her stand, and to see Hasan do that, is both mind boggling and painful, at least to me. AOC should be compared to the best and most progressive of the US politicians, or better yet, not be compared to anybody - and instead discussed on her own merits or the lack of them. I for one am deeply disappointed by this, to me trivial and obsolete, narrative.

kat amara - korba's avatar

Well voting to send bombs do Israel and taking money from zio investors at the beginning of her career . Of course she isn’t unhinged like MTG but yet again the choice is between the lesser of to evils not anyone of integrity.

Goran Senjanovic's avatar

I can fully agree with that. And yet, making comparisons with fascists is both unfair, unprofessional, immoral and politically incorrect- actually nothing can be worse than that. For then, I can compare MTG to Trump, Trump to Mussolini, Mussolini to Hitler - and lo and behold, we can compare AOC to Hitler because of wrong she did. The greatest danger to democracy comes from equating politicians because none are completely just. So once again, what Hasan does is both silly and unprofessional.

kat amara - korba's avatar

That’s your path, I don’t do that , I am not looking at historical fascism am seeing it in real time now . Not all fascism started in the 20th century. And Bolshevism was as ugly as fascism , 60 million were slaughtered under the Bolshevism- that’s more than any of the fascists you named. And Stalin - not a “ fascist “ but just as evil. All totalitarianism is bad - left and right are just nonsense words at this point

Goran Senjanovic's avatar

This would be comic, if it not were tragic - claim that 60 million were killed under bolshevism. It was bad enough, tragic enough - interesting that you must inflate the number. But that is not the issue at all, you missed my point entirely. So forget the label fascist on MTG if you do not like it - I only meant that the parallel is both ugly and unjust, period. I do not understand our discussion here - unless you believe that she and AOC belong to the same category. But then again, no sense to discuss - I see no way we could see eye to eye. - for then all would belong to the same category, for they/we all make grave mistakes at some point.

WE The People Demand More Of The Democratic Party

I don’t know about you but I get an incessant flow of emails daily about campaign contributions from Democrats running for office While it worked for Obama 18yy ago they’re beating a dead horse now because it’s difficult to know where the D’s stand on anything except “fund my campaign because I’m a Democrat”

While the Republican party may have been purged of anyone who isn't a fascist, look at the cover-up currently going on in New Mexico regarding Zorro Ranch and you will realize that some Democrats are also fascists. Be sure to vote in the primaries, and be sure to vote for the Democrat who's not in it for personal power and wealth.

Both parties have severe problems It's just the R's are in this case worse and their corruption is more visible The Democratic party has as many problems and it's time that it undergo a restructuring The anger from the talking Congressional heads in the media is not enough The D's need to be held accountable to WE the People No $$$ just because they have a D next to their name WE need to hear what their positions are on: expand SCOTUS, complete restructuring of voting laws, restructuring of DHS and elimination of ICE, meaningful immigration reform, national abortion access, stop funding Israeli military budget, demand campaign contribution reform, insisting on a wealth tax going after the oligarchic class WE the People demand more of our elected D representatives

As the primary season is getting under way Indivisible is getting behind specific candidates who aren't taking AIPAC or PAC $$$ and are supported by a supermajority(>80%) of Iocal Indivisible members examples Brad Ladner and Analillia Meija(NY) Julie Gonzales(Co) for Senate Jasmine Clark(Ga) Ross, Hill, Fox, and Little(Mn) and Flanagan(Mn) for Senate Randy Villegas(Ca) Peters(IL) Graham Platner(Me) for Senate Justin Pearson(Tn)

I was with this until 8:16 when Mehdi called it ludicrous to call AOC a liberal zionist. She factually is a liberal Zionist and so is MTG. Neither has come out against Israel's existence, which is like not coming out against apartheid's existence. "But white Afrikaners have a right to self-determination and their state has a right to self-defense!"

Meanwhile every reputable international human rights organization on Earth as well as several in Israel and 900 Israeli academics have called Israel an apartheid state, without taking the next step to the logical conclusion that said state should not exist. Anytime peoples’ collective rights are assigned differently by a state based on identity you have apartheid. Such states never should exist.

Alex Pretti was an American citizen.

He was shot dead by federal agents in the street.

The government called him a terrorist.

Then it pressured people not to memorialize him.

Then it investigated the people who refused to stay quiet.

Authoritarianism does not arrive with dramatic music and movie villains. It arrives through HR emails, internal investigations, and frightened people convincing themselves this is normal.

seriously MTG is trash. she makes horrible statements, death threats, trashes people threatens their lives and their families and then turns around and says Epstein bad Trump bad and therefore she's a good leader. a broken clock is right twice a day. she ain't no different

I was a huge AOC fan when she was first elected, even hoping she would run for President. Sadly, I cannot get beyond the 'tax the rich' Met gown and the convention lie about the ceasefire. The former was terrible judgement, the latter simply unforgivable. Her response to the Taiwan question also did her no favors and underscored her shallow knowledge of big issues. I have moved on to...well, I'm not sure who, because most of the other likely Dem candidates are even worse!! If Chris Van Hollen runs I will support him...otherwise I will once again be voting for the Peace & Freedom candidate in '28.

No apologia for MTG or Tucker from me, however. They are both white nationalists so they can get in the bin.

Thank you, thank you! I don't understand how people who seem otherwise smart can be so bonkers sometimes, including friends of mine! I try to be polite, and change the subject - it's clear they won't listen to me.

I suspect they won't listen to you either, Mehdi - you're a sell out, an Uncle Tom, a lib - whatever - but thank you for putting it out there
