Dr. Badar Khan Suri’s calm generous spirit and faith is inspiring. Prem is a wonderful interviewer- listening carefully to responses. The stories shared by Dr. Badar Khan Suri are human windows into the ongoing ICE horror show. What stood out: they don’t know what they’re doing. And they are brutally wrecking lives and families.

I completely agree about both of them. Prem deserves a journalism award!

Yes, it’s so important when the news is so horrific that the reporter is helping us understand in a grounded professional human way.

I was very happy to hear Suri articulate Gandian philosophy. The US desperately needs to understand that resistance to violence is the only way to insure a positive future.

This is the essence of white-supremacism. Giving violent, malicious imbeciles, absolute authority over people who are peaceful, kind & intelligent.

The knowledge that mindless thugs — who can't understand most of the harm they're causing you — have unchecked authority over whether you live or die, is its own form of torture. Above and beyond the torture they intentionally inflict. The knowledge that your life is as threatened by their idiocy, as it is by their malice.

This is not only about terrorizing the nonwhite population of the US; it's about training the white population of the US to become poison, and to forever SPREAD that poison.

There is now a new generation of confederates, that will always consider this poison "normal." Because this poison is what their parents are.

Sharon: I agree w/ everything you said, but take exception to the following stmt; “What stood out: they don’t know what they’re doing.” They know very well that “they are brutally wrecking lives and families” and they sadistically enjoy the suffering they inflict. Sociopaths and psychopaths are unable to feel empathy. There’s a book on Zero Degree of Empathy,” by a psychiatrist whose research confirmed that evil is basically zero degree of empathy. Hatred for the Other is a core characteristic of fascist ideology. I recommend looking up “zero degree of empathy” to ID the author. I suspect all fascists are sociopaths and/or psychopaths, use terror, violence, fear and suffering as instruments for social control. I also suggest looking up “How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us & Them” by Jason Stanley. Immigrants, people of color, especially the undocumented, foreign student scholars that dare to oppose Palestinian genocide or the illegal war of choice against Iran, the LBGTQ+ community, et. al., are targeted and terrorized; when possible disappeared. This terror is part of the fascist toolbox. Resistance requires recognizing the fascists, hold the accountable and deprive them of the impunity they are all too often granted.

Thank you for speaking out: another requisite of the long overdue Resistance.

BTW: Unfortunately, many scholars of fascism have fled the U.S., including Jason Stanley and Timothy Snyder.

Robert: I agree with your comments about sociopaths and facism, and inflicting suffering, especially normalized from the top down. I was referring to the complete dysfunction reflected in the detention facilities that Dr Badar Khan Suri described (food, health, phone access, plans, everything)— it’s a shit show as evidenced by all the “ I don’t knows” responses to detainee questions.

Thanks also for reading suggestions! Due to eye health issues, I’ve been listening to audio books.

I finished recently several volumes on the Nuremberg Trials and Tokyo Trials. The psychiatrists assigned to the Nazi defendants (to monitor for suicide signs, though not successfully) have also provided disturbing insights.

As an immigrant and as a human rights advocate that worked on supporting Chinese activists and lawyers for over two decades, the use of terror and lawlessness is unfortunately not a new or unfamiliar challenge😩 As I have posted, most recently on anniversary of June 4, impunity enables ongoing abuses and violations of people’s rights and dignity.

Question - what was the ethnic makeup of the goons who maltreated Dr. Suri and others? Just asking.

Cheeto’s “Weapons of Mass Destruction”

The Orange Cheeto with his Nazi sycophants in the cabinet used the pretense that the Iranians had enough enriched uranium to make a bomb negating his own national intelligence that it was not the case Cheeto has claimed that this was the “final blow” to such a program but one Iranian observer has said that this will only deter Iranians for a year until the program will be back and running

Now the international geiger counters used by agencies to detect any emitted radiation that would be released from the bombing of the radioactive sites have detected nothing So it appears that the ruse that Cheeto made that the bombing strike would take out enriched uranium and suggests that it was a Bush “weapons of mass destruction” fantasy that satisfied no one but Netanyahu who has been saying for decades that an “Iranian nuclear bomb” was just around the corner Perhaps the enriched uranium had already been moved but we will never know

So Cheeto was stupid enough to buy what Netanyahu was selling…prior presidents have been dismissive but Cheeto was dumb enough to take the bait And now Iranian sleeper cells within the US could be activated as Iran

I am going to comment on Zeteo's public page repeatedly, because they refuse to respond to my private chat messages or emails, and there appears to be no way to contact them by phone. They renewed my subscription without my explicit authorization, and I didn't want to. Immediately upon seeing the $72 charge to my credit card, I tried to contact them again and again to cancel it, as I have often done successfully for other subscriptions which are renewed, but which I don't want to renew. Crickets from Zeteo. I think they act in bad faith. I don't want to read them anymore, and I do not recommend them to others
