Same deal but with so many more Palestinians murdered, maimed and dispossessed. What a criminal waste of life. All parties should be hanging their heads in shame it took this long to get back to May’s position. And I doubt any contribution Trump made will make life easier or more just for the Palestinians in Gaza or the West Bank.

I have been convinced for a long time that the timing of both the start and end of the genocide campaign were determined at least in part on what would help Trump's position and reputation. Let's not forget he and Bibi are longstanding friends. God knows what Trump promised Bibi but I fear it can be nothing good. I really, really hope I'm wrong about this but I can't shake the suspicion.

Being very skeptical of Trump, I have no doubt the genocide is NOT over! Hamas and the Palestinians have no power or money to bribe Trump and therefore they are inconsequential to him. Having said that, if you're a Gazan even a short break in the violence is something!

Indeed. I am thankful for any break they get.

Never been a fan of Trump and never will be. Used to be a fan of Biden (a long time ago) but no more since he supported what Netanhuyu's did in Gaza. Now...the contest between Biden and Trump, to see who can claim a few inches of fame for something that is strictly gamesmanship between two tired and clingy old men is flatly absurd.

Bet you the Israelis do a false flag incident and double down in "phase 2"

I deeply feel for the Palestinian people in either Gaza or the West Bank. Whatever pressure trump put on Bibi, i suspect it was just to get the hostages freed. I don't trust Israel to do anything other than send back in troops and keep killing civilians, nor to do anything about the settlers in the West Bank.

Color me totally cynical over this Israeli government. What I DO believe is that trump will "support Israel retroactively if it violated the agreement. He didn’t stop there, according to Israel’s Ynet news outlet. Trump also reportedly agreed to remove Israeli settlers and far-right extremists from US sanctions lists." That would be completely typical of trump. Even if Hamas completely complies with the cease fire, the IDF will come up with some kid throwing a rock at an Israeli soldier as a claim that the Palestinians breached first.

Trump claims credit for everything but most of the time, he lies. It would not surprise me to find out he back-channeled Bibi months ago to make it appear that "he was the one who got the deal done.

In any case, too many Palestinians have died, too much time has been wasted but hopefully, the deal will hold. That is what my prayer is.

I hope it will hold and Palestinians can get a state. Or else same shit different day.

Leslie - I hope so as well. We will see what kind of sway trump really with Israel. It is time for Palestinians to have whatvis rightfully theirs!🙏

kind of like Reagan's back door deals with Iran over THOSE hostages.

What is there from preventing the shifty Netanyahu and Co to resume their Genocide in Gaza once Israel hostages are freed? Will Trump prevent that happening. Morally and honourably he should as he claims to be the party to the ceasefire agreement. But that could be a big ask!

I'm so sad. Of course I hope it will help save lives. A genocide has been committed and a price needs to be payed. I continue to feel so sad for all Palestinian lives lost due to the violent takeover of their land many years ago and leading up to the genocide.

Seeing is believing.

A cease fire ? Its not a war. Its a Holocaust. a Genocide.

The only ones who can stop anything are the perpetrators,

They've been doing it for 75 years,

Very foolish to think they can stop now.

Its their desire to kill a race,

you cant cure that, its a belief, a bit like religion.

They want to kill all the children to stop further breeding.

This is worse than the Nazi holocaust.

That doesn't seem so bad now.

What a tragic web they have spun.

Poor poor them.

I am glad that I voted for a third party. If Kamala won, we did not have a ceasefire agreement today. Love him or hate him but Trump unpredictable, and Bibi knows that 🤷🏻

I want this to be real, but I fear it is not.

so you are OK with mass deportations, tax cuts for the rich only, impairment of social security and Medicare, and Hegseth as Secretary of Defense. For starters.

We are talking about Genocide 😞

Expand full comment

true. But we could be talking that with trump and shipping "illegals" off to who knows where. Biden may have not been strong enough to stop it but it isn't the U.S. DOING it. And Biden wasn't running, and you actually have NO CLUE what position Harris would have taken. Because she has not said. Do you REALLY think trump will stop Bibi?

The U.S is the bad guy here. We had a choice whether we would be a universal bad guy or a bad guy on one reprehensible point. We went for Universal.

impossible to tell whether that was campaign speech or actual belief

I vote according to the candidate’s actions and campaign promises. Kamala actions during her time in the white house and her campaign promises were in support of the Israeli Genocide against Palestinians

More bombs dropped on Gaza than all of WW2, let that sync in. This is a stain on humanity that once again we failed to stop the genocide of the oppressed people. We should support BDS and forever vote against people who supported this genocide. We should never normalize it.
