I'm loving it! Mehdi's interviews are coming fast and furious. I was saddened when he left MSNBC but never imagined I would get my fill of listening to him so soon after his departure. Wonderful interview with the soft-spoken Mayor of London. Well done. A big difference between him and the mealy-mouthed watered down excuse for a P.M. that is Sunak. Ive been a fan since Mehdi's Oxford days and so glad that I can continue enjoying his work.

I totally agree with things you say about Donald Trump; that we would be headed for a disaster. However, when you badmouth Trump, you are basically siding with Biden, who, in my mind is more responsible than even Natanyahu for the deaths of 34,000 plus Gazans including 15000 children. His government consistently denies that Israel is guilty of war crimes or that a genocide and ethnic cleansing is going on. He continues to supply Israel with mega bombs to kill even more children, despite all the issues facing America. He is getting ready to sign the bill banning TikTok to shut people up who are intensely angry with what he has done over the last 6 months.

Trump is a fascist pig but Biden now fits the definition of a war criminal.

I have voted for democrats all my life but now curse myself everyday for having done that. No way in hell would I vote for him! If that means that Trump becomes the next president, so be it!

Mehdi, if by any chance you read this, please address the issue as to how, in good conscience, you can make a case to re-elect Biden.

Agree w/ everything you say about Biden and the democratic party, but don't kid yourself that the actions of Israel or the US would be better under Trump. As bad as it is with Biden, under Trump it would be even worse. Look at how Netanyahu has tried to undermine Biden. He desperately wants a Trump presidency so protests in the US will be violently squashed and he can feel free to finish off the entire population in Gaza. The fact that Biden at least respects Americans' freedom to protest and increase the pressure on him is not nothing. It has some effect, even if it's not yet the effect we're looking for.

And preserving democracy so we can have a chance at a future president who does care about Palestinian lives and respects international law is at least worth keeping Trump far away from the White House, because the odds of him and his administration eroding our democracy to be meaningless are very real.

Seems like a good guy but I think he's wrong to oppose BDS (boycott, divest, sanction). It's a necessary tool for opposing the Israeli apartheid regime.

An enjoyable interview to watch/listen to. As an outsider it seems that he has done a lot of good for London and I hope he wins again to help set examples of how cities can improve the health for all of their citizens.

Of course everyone deplores Hamas’s actions of Oct. 7. But how about their actions and inactions of the months since? Have they acted responsibly in a way that benefits the people of Gaza or have they egged on the Israelis and invited the killing of so many? Can we criticize Hamas and point out that they know very well that they are getting Palestinians killed.

I’m wondering, was Hamas around for the killings in Dier Yassin?

Can we look forward? Do we want to keep looking at the cycle of violence and never get off? Is Hamas the best future for Palestinians?

At the end of the day, I’m not a Palestinian from Gaza that has had my family slaughtered so I’m not sure I’m at liberty to have an opinion on Hamas. What I do know is that my elected official has voted to use my tax dollars for continued military aid. Tax dollars that I work very hard to pay. I do know that my friend’s cousin and his young children were killed with American bombs. I did not sign up to be complicit and as my tax dollars are being used and my elected official is voting, I should have a say, if the United States is a true democracy. What happened to for the people, by the people? Or is it different rules for different people? A 6 yr old Palestinian American kid was killed in Chicago in October, is my 6 year old, who is also brown and believes like that child, going to be next? Am I truly safe? I don’t feel safe.

I’m sorry you don’t feel safe. I don’t get your saying you can’t have opinions about Hamas but have such strong opinions about Other things as if your opinion is the one that should count. I don’t mean to appear argumentative. I believe we want the same things for our children and all children.

How do we get there. IMO we need to add to the gravity of those who want solutions and not the ones who are adding to the division which got us here. When we only criticize one side we confirm to the other side that we don’t understand them and they stop trusting

I have strong opinions about the government for the country I live in and am a citizen of, not a foreign country. I don’t see how it’s inappropriate to have opinions about it….And just wanted to add, your comment was critical only of one side, so it’s very pot kettle. Agree that all children should be safe. I am not a political analyst nor am I a statesperson, I am just a humble person that serves the people of my community regardless of their background so I don’t have answers for you. I have learned from children that sharing is caring, however, it seems adults don’t have this mindset when it comes to land, countries, etc, so perhaps we start with one land and equal rights for all, as a suggestion.. I also do not wish to argue and we can agree to disagree. Have a great day.

Two weeks after the fact, I finally got back to this interview. What a wonderful mayor the community of London has in Sadiq Khan. I was totally oblivious to the attacks he has endured, within and without of Britain. Including Trump! Here’s a measured compassionate leader being aggressively targeted for the simple fact of being Muslim. It’s a terrible situation being American in present times. Biden the war criminal and Trump the unhinged fascist authoritarian. It took so many steps and decades to arrive where we are now. Mayor Khan has made it clear that what happens in the US spreads well beyond our borders. Congratulations to Sadiq on being elected to his third term. Best to him!
