To add to Myth# 4 - I've read the study which was conducted by UNRWA under the supervision/review of the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) in 2017. The Palestinian Authority (PA) Education Ministry authorised 75 textbooks for grades 1 to 10 in the 2017-18 school year, totalling 7,498 pages. So called 'problematic' content was found on 229 pages (i.e. 3.1 percent). No instances of 'incitement of violence' were found. The majority of the issues identied related to what was called "neutrality/bias." More than half in the "neutrality/bias" category pertained to maps, Jerusalem and cities, such as referring to cities and towns in their pre-1948 name, using pre-1948 maps and the likes.
What's particularly astounding (and I think further substantiates using the settler colonial framework to describe and analyse Zionism) is how Palestinians are expected to forget or erase their memories of a time before the Nakba. Astounding that they're held to an absurdly high moral standard when there studies showing that Israeli textbooks view Palestinians with apathy, resentment or do not mention them at all - i.e. erasing their existence (Palestine in Israeli School Books: Ideology and Propaganda in Education by Nurit Peled-Elhanan).
Over the last 15 years Israel has made similar baseless claims against Human Rights Watch. It works very hard to generate negativity against those who dare to speak truth to power.
In the news March 20th. The administration and Congress put forth a spending bill that blocks US aid contributions to UNRWA through March of 2025. This while many allies have already resumed funding. Shameful.
