Schumer is a rabid pro-Israeli advocate. He is fine letting Israel take our money to inflict genocide on GAZA, bomb a girls school in Iran, support a madman in Israeli, invade other countries at will, and worst of all compromise our national security.
How can we get/identify leaders in the Democratic Party who can actually get something done? Our nation is on the verge of losing its democracy and few can identify the "real" leader of the democratic party who has a plan to counter this emerging dictatorship. Are we ready for the midterms? Will Trump try to stop the election?
Many of the 8.3 million people who marched on March 28 are done with the bought Democratic Party "leadership." We look to candidates not owned by PACs and not recommended by Schumer, Schiff or Jeffries.
We never really had a democracy, it is just more visible now. We do not vote on any issues, we give all our votes to people hired by the elite. Our founding was a usurpation of the preexisting American values to accommodate slavery. That is something they do not teach in school. Liberty was once called soul liberty and it was the foundation of free speech. Free speech was the foundation of democracy and freedom from religion was the foundation of freedom of religion. In 1663What was called the porous and failing walls of separation between church and state were replaced with walls around the church, separating it, from the rest of the world. Slavery was illegal, and all of this is was established in the Charter for the colony of Rhode island, but went out of practice when Roger Williams, the founder, died. All those people who had no problem showing up to church every Sunday mornings, had no problem attending the yearly or bi-yearly meetings to have their voices heard. If they had the internet, they could have done it from their homes.
Leaders are those that “do” and “don’t” point fingers. It begins by willing to sacrifice your time from family and friends. A willingness to spend your own money and endure pushback within and outside party. It’s easy to criticize leaders when personal liberty, time, or funds are NOT at stake. I am a democrat committee member. I’ve greeted voters, poll watched, food runner for poll workers and help delivery vote totals to the county seat for tabulation. I will continue to help but higher political aspirations are outside my interest. Are you willing to help in the midterms and 2028 or just blame democrats for poor messaging?
Poor messaging?! This goes way, way beyond crummy ads. The Democratic Party is complicit in getting us where we are today. This goes back ten years. Weak leadership ignored all the signs and instead was politics as usual all the way through the Biden Administration.
The Democratic Party won't even release the 2024 Election Autopsy Report. We know why. The GAZA genocide played a significant in losing the election. In addition, the audacity to still think ignoring the working class turned Hispanics and black men away from voting for Harris.
I have been a dedicated Democrat for over 55 years. I am done. I am fighting for progressives to win. I refuse to back any Party that is soaked in AIPAC money.
We want an opposition Party that fights back. Fighting back against the regime does work… and we will remake this party to represent the people because it is currently full of too many people who are too weak. We’re not asking. We’re demanding.
Weak leadership? Progressives? The average (republican and democrat) voter cares more about their favorite sports teams and reality shows.... couldn't name the three branches of government and zero knowledge of the constitution except the 2nd amd. THEY ARE THE PROBLEM.
The GAZA genocide has little is any, impact on the loss. I told my republican and democrat friends in 2023 that Trump would win in 2024. I based my prediction on two WAPO articles. One from 2016 and 2021:
You are supporting Democratic Party candidates who take AIPAC money:
"The GAZA genocide has little is any, impact on the loss." It sure does have an impact on the moral direction of the Party. I will not support any candidate who supports genocide.
Follows is what your all blue vote is getting you:
Israeli-Backed Militia Launches Deadly Attack on Gaza Refugee Camp Under Cover of Airstrikes
“We were shocked when Abu Nasira’s forces—or the militia—entered the neighborhood and began firing at people’s homes and at the children inside those homes,”
“My job is to keep the left pro-Israel.” Really? Isn’t that a conflict of interest, given that Israel’s interests are inimical to those of the U.S.? Do we really have an interest in funding a genocide for another country and fighting its wars? What do we get in return? Pariah status, division, self-loathing, debt, and the co-opting of our politicians, media, businesses and universities. When Democrats needed to be mounting challenges to Trump’s countless predations, Schumer was traveling around the country promoting his book on “antisemitism.” Maybe he needs to be running for office in Israel.
Exactly. And if he thinks that's his job, he should not be receiving hard-earned American tax dollars for his time in office when he's really working for a foreign country, and he should be registered as a foreign agent.
Time for Schumer to go! He's the perfect embodiment of what's wrong with the Democratic party that's brought us to this place. Get out of the way, Chuckie!
Looks like AOC could be the one. And I agree with Lynn that Brad Lander could also be interesting.
As to who might replace him Schumer as Minority Leader, I think the pack of usual suspects is pretty thin. Tells you something about how effective party leadership has been over the years at choosing gray, weak, nonconfrontational candidates.
I don’t know where to start but l will say the last thing first that is Chuck has to be chucked out; if he wants to sit In AIPAC lap he can do so but not on taxpayer money, he’s paid by us and our concern take precedence not Israel’s; if he wants to support a genocidal regime of Natenyahu who has blood on his hands then l would say Chuck has blood on his hand too, by association. He must decide which side of the fence he wants to be on but if he wants to be on the fence and run the senate from there then he’s not for us he can go and sit on a fence somewhere on Israel and Gazza border where either a drone, missile or an Israeli bomb will take out that fence with him on it.
I’m so tired of the establishment Democrats just as much as I’m disgusted by the GOP. Trump has shown us how much Israel’s and Zionists control this country. And that’s something that I find as a 14th generation American to be unacceptable. The US government is occupied by a foreign power and it’s not “Russia”!!!
Schumer, as head of one branch of the Uniparty, is acting exactly as he is supposed to, and he's been very, very good at it. That the electorate has somehow gotten beyond the allowable confines of the Uniparty boundaries, has, undoubtedly, been a big surprise. They are scrambling, now. Unfortunately, the structure of the system was designed on behalf of that Uniparty, and the voters are still left with few, if any, meaningful choices. What are we going to do about it?
Suck Boomer, the senator for Israel, needs to be put out to pasture. I believe AIPAC has set aside a nice field in the West Bank, recently stolen from Palestinians and fertilized with their blood, in which Suck can wander around and graze. If he gets bored he can be Designated Shooter-and-Cryer for the local Cossacks during one of their Araboushim hunts. He’ll be just fine.
Schumer is not interested in helping the Progressive Democrats to win; his sole job is to get as much money from the US to Israel for its war crimes and Genocide in Gaza and Lebanon. It is making us complicit in these illegal wars and Genocide.
When your leaders are of retirement age, why would you expect them to have forward looking vision and breadth of scope? At 75 and 78 the only thing driving these people is nostalgia for a time long past and without an alternative vision, they will keep trying to take us back to the hegemony and power of the past no matter if they have to break everything in order to do it. In their minds if it's broken it's easier to manipulate and reconstruct in the image of their indomitable past and nothing is going to change that. tRump and every person who aids him no matter what side of the aisle or world are fighting for total control of the narrative and worldview just as they had it for over 250 years and unless we see that we're actually helping them achieve their goals.
I have often said that elders belong in a mentorship role, not on the front lines. We should be the safety net, not the leading spear. 65 should be retirement age from active duty but 60 should be the limit to run for office. Also there should be an income cap. The representatives of the public should represent the public and not be representative of the wealthy 5% draining the economy at the expense of the people who work to make it possible.
No, people in their seventies and eighties CAN have "forward looking vision and breadth of scope." Most don't, and should be voted out if they don't, but there are some even their eighties and nineties who do. We should not throw the baby out with the bath water. The problem is not age, is grip on power of people who have "served" too long.
"voted out"? You can see how well that's been working. Those who truly have that kind of vision, know they need to be support, the safety net, not the spearhead. Look at indigenous people and see how their tribal systems revered the elders and were guided by them, but the elders did not take the lead, they guieded the leaders and if you were right, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in. Incidentally, I'm 72 and know of what I speak l.
I've come to realize over the years, that Democrats and Republicans officials are not really different from each other. They both serve the same masters, corporate interests and the Israel Lobby. They just trade off power between each other every a few years to make things seem legit. The last time we truly had a government that worked for the people was back in 1932. This country is facing the same dilemma as we did back then, AI generated unemployment on this horizon, corporate consolidation, media take over, and sheer corruption that all led to the Great Depression. We have a chance to elect leaders that actually give a damn, but that starts with removing people like Schumer, Booker, Slotkin, and Jeffries.
Both parties are at a crossroads and the decision they make will determine the longevity of our democracy.
The GOP has to decide whether to return to actual conservatism and toss the MAGA lunacy to the curb or continue into a dictatorial theocratic fantasyland hellscape.
The Dems have to decide whether to keep clinging to an outdated and unwanted corporate donor party or return to their labor supporting social democracy with progressive taxation, which by the way are the countries who have the happiest populations and the most stable democracies (think Nordic).
How about that?? The countries Trump & the GOP want to see immigrants come to the US from (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, etc) pay the highest taxes, have the best social programs, are not warmonger imperialists and score the highest on happiness! Hmmm.
We finally have a chance to win back the House and Senate. The midterms are ours to lose and Schumer is doing his best to make sure we do.
Schumer is a rabid pro-Israeli advocate. He is fine letting Israel take our money to inflict genocide on GAZA, bomb a girls school in Iran, support a madman in Israeli, invade other countries at will, and worst of all compromise our national security.
Stop supporting murderers.
What universe are you from?

True Biden won in 2020 but 2024 changed all that. I will continue to vote BLUE!

I beg your pardon.

AOC or Brad Lander

Terrible leader? Or perfectly doing what he’s been doing and believes in doing.
He may believe in what he's doing, but that doesn't mean he's representing the people who elected him.
What do you mean! Corporations are people!!!
Schumer is long past being put out to pasture.

He is VERY good at promoting Israel’s agenda. That is the only reason he picks these people.
