In the wake of a school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2023, Kirk said the cost of “some gun deaths” is “unfortunately” worth it in order to preserve Second Amendment rights, calling it a “prudent deal.” This is a case of the biblical warning, "those who live by the sword will die by the sword." Dude spewed hatred and it came back for him. This crap has got to stop, guns, hatred, we've been on a downward spiral for so long.
Thank you for calling Kirk "far right," rather than the euphemistic "conservative," which the NYT and others are using. This man was a straight up purveyor of hate. I do not condone violence, but I do appreciate accuracy. Even in his final moments he was spreading horrible lies about transgender people. How he lived, sowing discord, spreading disinformation, also is tragic.
This king of violence should have no place in our society. Blaming either the 'left' or the 'right' solves nothing. Dialing down the rhetoric and more restrictive gun laws would be a better solution.
I agree in principle; but as one of the people Charlie Kirk said should be "stoned to death" I honestly feel that the World is a little bit cleaner today.
On at least two occasions, TP USA hosted Kyle Rittenhouse at its events. Kyle RIttenhouse's only claim to fame was killing two people.
Conservatives are cutting Medicare and Medicaid. They cut US AID. I could go on but how many people will die or have already died from these horrific policies? How about some sympathy for them?
Very much like what led Luigi Mangione to shoot the United Health CEO who was responsible for innumerable deaths due to systemic denial of coverage for necessary medical care.
Yes. And, while I don't really think Charlie Kirk was a good choice if this was about making a political point (which we don't yet know) because he was not an official policy maker, I can't really have too much sympathy. The comments about mass shootings and platforming Kyle Rittenhouse doesn't leave me with much sympathy. Brian Thompson actually made policy at UHC that allowed people to die.
It is also unfortunate that our society has devolved to this point.
While I condemn any kind of violence against anybody of any political affiliation, the thought that this poses a perfect opportunity for the right wing to become even more Gestapo like did cross my mind…….
Interesting that you left off the exchange he had with the same audience member right before that in which Kirk continued to spread absurd propaganda that there is some kind of epidemic of trans shooters.
He died by the very device he advocated for.... I can't say I agree or even wished for his death but this is an example of hateful, racist, sexist, homophobic rhetoric causing the end point.
I fear the fallout from this. I'm going to try to flee this god forsaken country but since I'm being bled dry by capitalism it will be an extreme challenge.
Governor Newsom is crawling all over himself honoring his passion. What is going on? MSNBC is acting like this guy is a goddamned saint. Oh- and four or five children were shot up in CO today, and not a word.
I am sorry but I do not give a flying fuck. "Political violence has no place in this country." Alright keep peacefully protesting while Trump and his Gestapo put people in camps. One of his propagandists kicks the proverbial bucket WHILE DEMONIZING TRANS PEOPLE and I'm supposed to feel bad? What the fuck are we really doing here?
I’m no fan of Kirk, but will defend his right to say anything he wants as long as he doesn’t promote violence.
That said, this is a terrible day for free speech. When people are killed for political rhetoric it ends the discussion of free ideas, and we either self censor, or authoritarian’s use these tragedies to invoke emergency powers and to execute their worst agendas.
My sympathies go out to Kirk’s family, and let’s pray cool heads prevail and this isn’t the beginning of violence gone amok!
Fair enough, and I don’t support his right to do it or believe it’s protected speech. That said, violence isn’t the answer against violent rhetoric either.
He did have a right to say whatever he wanted. And with that said he reaped what he had sown. I don't advocate violence. I don't agree with his death. But it is telling that he died from the very thing he lied about and distorted. His death will be used by the right as further reasons for striking down our rights. But at the end of the day Kirk will be remembered for what he truly was....racist, misogynistic, white supremacist conspiracy theories who left little behind that was positive. Living by lies and hate has its consequences in death
All I can say is thoughts and prayers….
Charlie Kirk: “It’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment”
Reap what you sow.
Exactly. He has no sympathy for the victims of other gun violence, but now he’s on the end of it.

Killing is wrong, but yeah, he played his part in causing his own death. That cannot be denied. You laid it out it so well….
Thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to the bereaved family.
There is no place for political violence even though we may disagree.
Use sharp words but no physical violence.

And we know they'll use every opportunity to do just that.
Seriously whats going on in America.
Cant catch a single day without the
divisiveness getting escalated.
Ironically Charlie Kirk promoted this atmosphere but he did not deserve this end

He did promote violence though. Multiple times. Against people protesting on college campus for Palestine and trans people, among other things.
Fair enough, and I don’t support his right to do it or believe it’s protected speech. That said, violence isn’t the answer against violent rhetoric either.
No it's not, we agree on that.

Agreed…:)
