The joy and excitement Omar is expressing is contagious I felt it in my heart during the interview. Thank you Mehdi for sharing this young man's pure and raw emotions of freedom in Syria after 14 years.
Wow what an amazing moving interview. My heart is bursting with joy for Syria’s freedom, and with sadness for what the country has been through. The rest of the world must support them in achieving the future they want, the way they want
A great story about an idealistic young man who is understandably elated at the toppling of Assad. But frankly, his reading of the situation that "we fought alone" is far from the truth.
There were multiple major powers involved on both sides of the issue. All of them with their own axes to grind and not one of them with any altruistic motives.
Depressing but realistic analysis by Craig Murray there. Though the joy and excitement of Omar is understandable considering he suffered personally at the hands of Assad's brutal regime, it seems he completely underestimates the role of Israel and USA (praising the democracy in US, ignoring how it is completely controlled by AIPAC) in all of this, and the possibility that it can get far worst for Syrians in coming months.
I would not listen to fools with no understanding of the characters in the region claiming that Israel wanted Bashar gone!.
Israel wants every dictator in the Arab world (look at the democratic experiment at Egypt and Tunisia) to be in charge in all the surrounding surrounding countries.
They know for a fact that a democratic government will feel compelled to support the Palestinian as opposed to the current rulers who covertly help Israel. In return fir protection from their own public.
The Assads (father and son) did not fire a single bullet at Israel for 45 years, never tried to retaliate for the constant attacks by Israel and never tried to liberate the occupied golan heights.
Do you really think Netanyahu is fool enough to take the risk of toppling this regime, not knowing what will happen next?
This interview gives more valuable insight and passion than the standard interview with a leader, who would only resort to the typical circumlocution that leaders do. I hope this new regime is an improvement over the old one--not a high bar at all--but as we find out too often, just when we think it can't get any worse, we are proven wrong again.
Thank you for doing this interview in the immediate aftermath of Assad’s fall - Omar is an inspiration and I wish him and all Syrians striving for peace and freedom all the best as they develop a new way of life and governance. 🕊️
I appreciate the fact that Mehdi decided to conduct an interview emphasizing the ‘human side’ of this moment… though he couldn’t help squeezing in the political questions at the end. The joy and amazing innocence of that young man brought tears to my eyes.
Mehdi, A man with a mission, and bless him for that and sending the bi-product out here to us. What gives me hope. Bless the Syrians.
I certainly hope the joy last for a very long time. But, I am afraid horrors could return due to Israel's master plan. I am against Asad, but kicking out Asad, and ultimately Russian presence, opens up the door of least resistance for the formation of Greater Israel. Syria was destroyed in phase-1 by letting the civil war continue for such a long time with minimal external intervention. Now that the country is so week, Russian presence had to be eliminated by greater external help to get ready for Zionist master plan phase-2.
In less than 4 months starting in 2015 Canada took in 25,000 Syrian refugees. They have enhanced the country in many ways. I sincerely hope they will remain in Canada as it is now their home. Good wishes go out to those in Syria and I hope their future is bright. Hopefully they can get the other usurper countries off their land at last, especially American military bases.

Unfortunately in light of Israel, thus will probably not be possible, the 'empire' is growing at the cost of others. I pray for Syria 🙏🏽

However, you Mehdi, as a serious poitical analyst need now to do some serious interviews with the likes of Craig Murray for example. Read this analysis - depressing in the extreme - and take it from there. https://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2024/12/the-end-of-pluralism-in-the-middle-east/

Awesome, I have no words. I'm overjoyed for the Syrian people. Fantastic interview Mehdi!

Brilliant interview. Make Omar president now!!
This is amazing and wonderful. Yay!
This reminds me of the initial joy of some Iraqis when the US invaded Iraq in 2003 and toppled Hussein.
Thank you Omar for this enlightening interview and hopes for the peace and security of your homeland, 🇸🇾!
What is it that makes a grown man, want to torture an innocent child.
Who just wants a life.
Or murder 25,000 children, by blowing them up, and shooting them in the head,
With more gusto than Hitler.
What is it?
That makes this man.
It looks like Dictators are falling.
Assad. Putin . Xi , will go. Netanyahu next
very encouraging while cautious.
