The Post reflects the same elite opinion that prevailed in the recent Senate vote to continue arming the germicidal Israeli regime. This minority opinion negates the majority of US citizens who want the killing to stop. "Democracy?"

I recently heard the US described as an "Oligarchy with Elections". Seems to fit well.

Great rebuttal, Prem. Very well written, with point by point evidence to refute the Post’s claims. Thank you for this analysis, and for your continued work in the press briefings.

Shame on so called esteemed newspaper. It has become a puppet for psychopaths.

Another excellent piece, thank you also continuing to hold the administration to account on Hind Rajab. It’s so easy to focus on the new atrocities being committed daily but if we let ourselves amalgamate the horrors of the past year then the government will just keep using the same playbook to feign ignorance, and dodge accountability.

We need to keep coming back to the crimes individually if for no other reason than to show they are hoping we will forget. They are hoping that they can exhaust us into apathy.

Holding the to account would be lining them up aboard the grey goose. This is considered an inconvenience to have to answer, but it's evident they became more comfortable with the latent lies somewhere around November 2023, that's when 'self defence ' ' human sheilds' and 'release the hostages' rhetoric were amplified..

Find it gross they had to invent grousom lies to inflate the oct 7th attacks, I mean who does that if they are not in the wrong to say the least? What kind of respect is that to any victim that you can't stop at the truth and just keep pulling on those strings... Not that these obvious lies mattered, no matter how many white folks go out to the streets - you've crossed the good taste of "rebellion" in the eyes of the establishment... Its strength now directed at you

That’s an excellent point,

I think it’s shocking when someone in the media glazes over the fact that they “got it wrong” when the topic of babies in ovens or beheaded babies come up. The whole “fog of war” argument doesn’t come close to explaining how someone could get it wrong when they allege 40 beheaded babies, babies strung up on clothes lines, babies being thrown into ovens. How can you live with yourself after imagining and propagating such a heinous lie? I think your question hits it right on the mark- who does that if they aren’t in wrong?

Great article highlighting the absolute farce that paper has become.

The continued support for Israel by the US government and the EU in the face of the egregious violations of international law by the Israeli government is truly surreal. Why do these countries think that, because of the holocaust, Israel is entitled to commit massive atrocities against innocent civilian populations?

Has f all to do with which side they propped up during the holocaust, how many warnings they ignored then, how the "Jewish state" seemed a great project to combat their own antisemitic populations and beliefs (by... Shipping as many of your own Jewish population to it...?) or any sort of guilt.

"why is it such a dirty little secret that America wants to protect its interests abroad..." syriana, paraphrased. But it's along those lines, or better yet - " if Israel didn't exist, America would have to invent an Israel..." that's yours truly president 'what what day is it'...

You don't pour billions (dare I say by now it's been trillions?) to build and prop up an ultramilitaristic, hyper ethnofascist state/ colony/ base in the middle of an Arab dessert, just to pull away when the neighbours are dying.... That would be too short sighted... I mean who'll just randomly bomb Syria for you every other week if you do? Who will be the bully in the region to guarantee friction amongst the Arab oil rich states, and yet again guarantee their natural resources serve your imperial empire and its corporate warmongering landlords?

Israel has played this game since the beginning. Why would they stop now? AIPAC has sold most of America on Israel’s righteousness & heir money had foreclosed on opposition in the government & media

“It reads like satire. So perhaps we should file Sunday night’s Washington Post editorial board piece, indignantly responding to the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, under ‘Not The Onion.’”

Most people think Bezos and the WaPPo first caved to MAGA Inc. when they refused to endorse Harris; it’s far from the truth. Bezos pledged fealty a year earlier, when he hired a former employee of Murdock’s British tabloid newspapers. Will Lewis, a conservative fixer for Murdock, was hired as its publisher.

The goal was to separate the editorial pages from its gold star reporting. So expect more outrage, when the editorial pages refuse to acknowledge any faults during the Trump 2.0 administration, in contrast to its investigative journalism and top notch reporting.

I’ve canceled my subscription. Apparently, democracy doesn’t die in darkness; it evaporates into thin air; in the light of day!…:)

Brilliantly summarized and referenced. Add the Washington Post to the list of those complicit in allowing Israel's impunity.

great piece and so well described. WP piece was simply humorous. Not even an attempt at impartiality.

That last paragraph is a *chefskiss* perfect summary of the cognitive dissonance at play

As the young people today say, the WP said the quiet part out loud. It’s like the White House spokespeople were invited to write that editorial, using all their smug, sham talking points. Sounds identical to the replies we keep hearing to reporters questions.

“We reject (insert anything the UN says).”

“We have to wait for Israel to investigate thoroughly.”

“We’re working tirelessly for a ceasefire.”

“Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.”

Great article Prem. Such a childish, biased and outrageous editorial by WP. Even a middle school student can rebuttal and can see through these biases & baseless arguments.
