Mehrdad, As for my idea, while you might be right, as outsiders, none of us is privy to conversations that could be occurring behind closed doors.

The foregoing notwithstanding, still, I maintain that were Trump elected in 24, we would lose our opportunity to set our own course in 28.

While that is also very true, we all need to operate and plan based on facts that we have. At this point in time, my conscience does not allow me to vote for anyone that has been complicit in this genocide. Let's hope our politicians, on both sides, have an awakening as watching the level of destructions is beyond belief. Of course watching how they have been systematically limiting American people's hands opposing Israel while giving a free reign to the Zionist.

Mehrdad, I believe it is of note that just yesterday House Democrats deployed 2 letters to the Administration: one signed by 87 Democratic House members urging Biden to enforce U.S. laws and policy regarding U.S. humanitarian aid to Gaza, and the second signed by 57 Democratic House members calling on the Administration to help prevent an assault on Rafah. Note that neither initiative received any Republican support.

My point circling back to Ellison’s position is that, in contrast to Republicans, we can bank on Democrats exerting increasing pressure on a Democratic Administration to try and end the senseless abuse of the Palestinian people.

Barbara, I agree that Democrats are not nearly as bad as Republicans but this only goes to prove that we need to support those who put their money where their mouth is and oppose the rest. I believe this two-party system is a disaster and we need to help strengthen Independents candidates and others and I fully understand that it will not happen quickly but if each time we say 'this round the stakes are high' then they will never gain the momentum. In reality it has been hard to distinguish Democrats and Republicans apart, especially regarding Israel. Just look at the HR 6090 that was passed just a few days ago and see how many Democrats sold their soul to erode our freedom of speech in support of Zionist. I believe we must hold them accountable

Mehrdad, Ultimately, our choice this November is binary. Either we work to elect increasingly more progressive Democrats who will gin up the pressure for ending occupation of Palestinian land or we turn the country over to the MAGA fascists, who not only will end democracy in the States but also will empower Netanyahu to fulfill his illiberal vision in the Middle East.

Barbara, respectfully, we have a third choice of not voting at all which such a vote will only look to legitimize this binary system or possibly vote for a third person. I believe in accountability rather strongly and if we keep electing the same people what change can we expect?

We also need to keep in mind that the Congress is just as important as the Presidency and yet we keep sending the same people back. We need to start voting for people instead of the party.

Mehrdad, Presuming neither Biden nor Trump leaves the race, the 2024 election will not be a race between Biden and Trump but between Biden, Trump, and the couch. Because Biden, in 2020, defeated Trump by a mere 44,000 votes among 3 states—Wisconsin, Georgia, and Arizona—the impact of a non-Trump voter sitting out the election or voting for a third party candidate translates to a vote for Trump and thus, circling back to the foregoing analogy, represents the couch. I make this point to urge every one of us to consider the impact of our actions this election season. I would add, that as much as we dislike the adage “the lesser of two evils,” we ought not forget that the lesser of two evils generally is a lot less evil.

Yes, that is true and Joenocide Biden has only himself to blame this for. If all the prediction of dooms day come true which I would not be surprised, that would squarely be on him and his legacy.

Mehrdad, If you somehow had missed Mehdi’s conversation with AOC, I would encourage checking it out. It’s brief and, without question, merits our attention.
